Love you, Erin, and agree with you that the facts in that last video did not seem to add up. But here's the thing with ATS - it may not reject you, but since its job is to track and organize applications, it's reasonable to conclude that it places applications into categories like "highly qualified, "qualified," "somewhat qualified," and "unqualified." It is highly unlikely that hiring managers are being handed the "unqualified" pile of resumes. So I call BS on recruiters claiming that every application and resume are seen by human eyes. The ATS may not be rejecting candidates outright, but they can categorize you into the bottom of the barrel pile, which is no different than a rejection.

Advice #3. My first day as a publisher admin assistant was hell. I walked in, politely knocked on the door, said excuse me, and followed up with my question. Apparently, this was not the behavior he wanted. After I walked back to my desk, he stormed out of his office and yelled at me in front of the team, saying that when I walk into that room, I own that room, and I interrupt without apologies. I was almost in tears. This was the opposite of how my last jobs went and my upbringing. So, basically, I was yelled at for manners. I guess I didn't own it?

Awesome video Erin! Yes, all good advice. As far as bad managers go, I used to think like that person that said companies protect bad managers, but now I 💯% agree with you: companies protect profitable managers.

I once had a manager that would work 18 hours a day for 6 days in a row🤯 He expected all the other employees to do the same. He didn't care that we had lives outside of work. For him work came 1st and we were expected to feel the same. He was eventually demoted then fired. While he thought he was giving his life for the business, he was actually costing them money in excessive OT.

So yes, welcome to capitalism!😂

1:49 The American dynamic is interesting. Because in my 20s I'm not married, but I have a house to take care of, and I don't have kids but I do have parents who are aging. 🤔

@Alicia-LM

This is great!

Hey Erin, I loved how you tackled messaging everyone on LinkedIn. Every message is every opportunity! I do want to ask though, I am in a completely different field in a decent-sized city, but I have a very specific field that is not as much common here, but it's my dream job. What's your method in that?
