Bless your heart Wayne!! I own the same compass!! Thank you so much my friend!! I love the tutorial, however, I do use the inclinometer to measure height, I do have a suunto and use, when Iโm hiking. The proster was gifted to me and I believe in using my equipment to its fullest potential, so, my friend thank you Iโve been trying to figure out how to use the recticle the correct way and you helped me!! Bless your heart again Wayne!!๐๐ฝ๐ฏโค๏ธ๐บ๐ธ
Excellent video! Thank you! I will be able to use it in my lessons, since more and more students buy this compass model because of how robust it is. In my country, Costa Rica, they are sold under the Italian brand Konus.
Thank you for the tutorial I got one of these compasses last fall, and was surprised at the quality of it but haven't had the time to try it out.
Another really lovely video. Nice to get an objective review of something made in China.
As a zone of a survivor, I appreciate your videos. Learning land navigating in the military, I do appreciate knowing how to find the north star, I'd be lost in the southern hemisphere
Just got one of those for Christmas. Thanks for the info, especially the IP numbering system.
๐ brilliant video Wayne. Thank you. You deserve more than a thumbs up. ๐ฎ๐ ๐ Love the ๐ง ๐ง ๐ง ๐ง ๐ง #feedthealgorithm
Clear concise and understandable. Enjoyed your video. Thanks.
I just saw your gate video and the other one about how to calculate the distance to it and thought โman, if only he had an in depth video about that compasโ and there it is!
pure youtube gold - thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
Very helpful information
For distance calculations, if the width of the object is unknown, you can alternatively change your position, moving 10 feet to one side, and then take your other reading. This is a very useful technique when wanting to find a distance to a natural object.
Thank you for the great video!!
Cheers for the content (i'd have to guess an honest review, as you come across as an upright guy and I have no intention of buying this compass - not for any negative reason, I hasten to add, I'm just not in the market for it). I'd add I kinda like your waffle - it's so far always been enlightening. Keep on keeping on๐
Wayne, the time for the object on the tree over your right shoulder is between 15:25 to 19:59. Hope this helps.
A very informative video , as usual.
You should design your own compass, with all the materials you would use. I'd be interested in seeing what you came up with. Also, I now have a collection of Francis Barker compasses thanks to you!
Finally, a similar compass like that came free from a purchase I did on Temu, unfortunately instructions were not clear, neither the compass it's of good quality hehe, but as he mentioned at the start of the video, and I can't find any video or manual on the internet of how to use that kind of compass, thanks a lot
[Edit: I have no Idea, how this comment ended up under this video. It was, of course, meant to be posted unter the "Suunto MP6" video on this channel. Silly me.] I do have a Recta DP2 (from the early 90s, i presume). This one looks very similar to your MP6 apart from it being dark green instead of black (and of course being without the inclination needle and the declination adjustment screw (DP2 < DP6)). So I reckon that the major change in design (i.e. the printed white bearings in 2ยฐ steps on the bezel) was already made by Recta before Suunto took over. I still love that design with the protective box and the slide out mirror. Simple, elegant and very functional.
