I believe there was an story that stated that 055 is something that removes objects from the noosphere and physical reality. It exists outside of conception in order to prevent any object removed by 055 from being un-deleted by 055. Its only use was to make 2165, which in turn was a failed 683 termination attempt, which fused with a Pattern Screamer and then adapted back into reality, resulting in both 2165 and 683.

I think MA-X once got the foundation to let him see SCP-55. He wanted to see if he could remember of it because he's an AI or if it still affected him. Unfortunately, he's never said anything about what the result was.

I feel deducing what SCP-055 is should be relatively easy if you ask the right questions. We can ask if it's alive, if it resembles something non-anomalous, if it could fit in a box that another researcher's holding, if it's more than 100 lbs, etc.
