Thoughts?

@BananaWizard1

Some companies want to make money by selling good products for fair prices, others want to make money by intentionally selling worse products so that we have to replace them faster or buy accessories for absolutely no reason (except for the fact that they make more money out of it).

@SnowTheKitsune

Technically EU made USB-C mandatory on every electronic device to have less cable waste and have one unified cable you can use. I literally still use my note9 cable for my charging.

@link5688

It is never in a customers best interest to simp for a multi-million dollar corporation. The interests of the producer and the consumer are never aligned at that point

@yoi9759

Remember, alienware is garbage. Their monitors are decent, the rest goes to trash.

@joyEXPofficial

Potatoes are good 🥔

Dell could use the ATX standards for their desktops. That would reduce a whole heap of e-waste.

@RaspbrylZ

If they wanted to make it right they could provide the adapters for free to help cover old models while they phase them out in favor of ones with standard parts.

@TheEpicDiamondMiner

I mean, it doesn’t change the fact that Alienware still uses proprietary parts. No one should be congratulated for selling the solution to a problem that they caused.

@icantpronounce

There is an option 4 and that’s to do both 2 and 3 and if we’re giving benefit of the doubt that’s what they’re doing but only way to tell is by waiting

@Iamcosmic.

Alienware needs to make prebuilt sleeper bilds that look like their old models from when people actually respected Alienware. Those would sell like hotcakes if they actually put in work to make them good computers.

@kenshinx2180

Back in the day (2005) I wanted an alienware , as there weren't many gaming laptops brands other than dell XPS series and Voodoo that I consider alternative options. Then dell bought alienware and build quality dropped so I abandon that idea. Now other brands got good gaming laptops that I don't consider alienware laptops anymore. Will build my own desktop when I finally settle a place long term as I can get better performance for my money with desktop.

@NothingbutDust734

You know, knowing and seeing people having this kind of ouroboros loop logic is hilarious. Hilarious only when you think of them as a civilian, normal everyday person. Once you imagine someone like this in the seat of power like a senator, then it becomes scary.

@fluffyx1556

I do agree that it's nice that they atleast have adapter cables but that doesn't mean its what we deserve, the take "I'd rather take adapters over no adapters" is fair, but the whole public opinion is the fact that we shouldnt NEED adapters

@DMGamer_PC

"At least they're not generating e-waste" Funny, they would actually generate LESS if they standardized everything, because there are going to be some people who don't know about the adapters, and toss the PC assuming they can't work on it.

@nexenW

This is helpful for people who already possess old alienware pc's

@Lord_Omni

Give such companies a full freedom, and you will be able to use apps only from their store, cables made only by them, use words and gestures allowed only by them, walk only where they allow, has as much security as they allow.

@dooderman8361

Some companies (with detached shareholders) think only in short term profits, they look at everything they can do to increase the amount of money they can make without caring at all what value they are actually providing in return. Yes this will often yield good results short term, but it’s also why these companies fail in the long run as people realize how shit the value offered actually is.

Other companies realize that the best way to make money is to offer immense value to the customer. Anything you can do to increase the value to the customer is a step in the right direction. Even if you don’t directly follow it with a price increase, just the effort of offering convenience or value to your customers makes them way more likely to feel good about the purchase and recommend it to their friends and family. It’s the same with video games, when I don’t see predatory pricing and gotcha mechanics I’m way more likely to recommend a game to someone, especially if I see efforts from the devs to add things that didn’t directly boost their profits.

@LprogressivesANDliberals

This shows you the difference in mindsets. A few are happy consumers that eat anything, & most are tired of being nickeled and dimed!! 💯

@fxw

You're exactly right here 👍
