No beginner DYI has a nail gun. 😂
I’m hesitating after reading so many negative comments but here goes. For a beginner, a drill is a great first tool. Drill a 1/4” hole thru the joint. Then apply glue to the joint and a dowel rod. It will give you a stronger joint. After sanding everything smooth and flush, apply a stain pre-conditioner when using soft woods like pine or spruce. It will pop the grain so give it another light sanding to smooth the surface. Now apply your stain. If you don’t do the conditioner. Then use a clear coat to seal the stain or your towels might get stained also. 😢 Otherwise, great project! Keep it up. 🎉
Use Wood Conditiner on Pine BEFORE staining. It will be less blotchy. Pine is the hardest to stain evenly. Pine is also a very cheap lumber.
I love how you think that someone doing their first DIY project already has several power tools.
Lol, I don't mean this to be snarky, but if you're demonstrating a beginner DIY project, maybe use a hammer and nails and not a nail gun? 🤷♀️🙂
Tip: It’s better to use nails for anyone starting out because screws can split the wood. Hope this helps
I would also add some glue between the nailed members!
1. Cut off the orange painted end first so you have a smooth end and don’t need to cover it with filler 2. Use wood glue to reinforce the joints. Nailing into end grain is just asking for it to slip out. Put a skim coat of glue on the end grain, let it dry, then glue the pieces together like normal. The thin dried glue layer will fill some of the end grain pores and result in a better joint. 3. Use a pre-stain conditioner before applying stain. It’ll take out some of those splotches you see all over her finished product. Especially true with pine. 4. Secure to the wall with anchors (2 on top, 2 on bottom) since this is too narrow to reach 2 studs.
don’t call beginner project and say “…use your nail gun..”😂
I can’t believe they’re selling 35 cents worth of wood for $5
Square dowels. They’re in aisle 14 next to the board stretcher
Outstanding job young lady God bless you
A good wood conditioner will make your stain more uniform, less splotchy
Or buy 2 pieces that are full size 2"x2"x8', ( instead of 4 pcs at 2"x2"x2') then cut them to the sizes you need, you have the same amount of wood but for a few dollars less
Mitter saw, nail gun, yeah, lemmy find a couple of thousand worth of tools around the house, I’m pretty sure I got some
SO COOL!
99% of 1st time DIYers do not have a nail gun
I love it😊
Why pay alot of money to go to college and study to become a Carpentry?🤔 When natural talent is free!💁♀️ Good job👏 I like this talent!
