Not all superheroes wear capes , but you Sir wear one daily..
Love the T Shirt. i love podcasts.
Yes it makes sense.
What others see: bubbly person who talks a lot. What others don't see: someone desperately trying to connect with anyone to the point of hurting themselves.
It really is like a second language. You talk alot like my kid and often I have to kinda translate her language to neurotypical people. Thank you for this podcast
10:22 self loathing 😢 YEP YEP YEP
hahaha - I need to remind myself when people start small talk about whether they are wanting an emotional interaction not an analysis of the current weather patterns and do not want to talk about it for more then 5sec 🤣
yes, please, just bloody SAY IT! I hate when people make me guess what they are trying to say. I shut down.
looking forward to this new series 😎
Where did you get your shirt?! I think it’s great!
Isolated, yes. In grade school, I always had to sit by the teacher, or in the back of the class. How embarrassing. The psychologist in 4th grade said that I was just "different." But that was in 1981. That severely accentuated the feeling of isolation. I guess I was a disturbance. I am surenthe ADD/ADHD had something to do with being disturbing 🤷♀️
The thumbnail makes me laugh for some reason like the microphone
Thank you for saying that about small talk, I have worked in fast food so I learned how to do small talk with the customers and was told that I was really good at it. I did it because that was what was expected from you, in other environments I don't see the point (and it is really draining just listening to people when I am in the area not even a part of the conversation). I have asked support workers to help me with emails occasionally and one of the things that they will quite often say is that I need an opening sentence before I get to the real topic (along the lines of I hope you are doing well kind of thing) because otherwise it comes across as rude and blunt. The thing that gets me the most about that was that they agreed that doing so was fluffy crap but that it was socially expected to be there so I would be more effective if I did it too.
I can relate to a lot of this.
i can so relate to this info... thanks
This is so awesome! I'm hyped! 🔥 I listen to a lot of podcasts lately before i fall asleep. So thank you for this! ♥️
I still put both my hands up most times to remember right and left. The only thing that answers the question is remembering what hand I write with. I'm 44. It's still a thing. Sometimes people see me doing it and I feel rather embarrassed. Oh well.
Hi Orion, I’ve recently come across your main channel and loving the format of this new Podcast channel. Loving what you do. I’m in UK and as a NT I’m a big advocate for Autism in my community and workplace. Both my wife and both boys are on the Spectrum and I’ve learned I have to adapt myself to live in their world rather than expecting them to adapt to mine. I’ve recently started to deliver Autism Acceptance training in my community and workplace which is co-delivered with Autistic people. We use Autism Acceptance because Awareness is not enough. I’ve been telling people to visit your videos as brilliant examples of what it’s like as an Autistic person and your lived experience. Hope you don’t mind me spreading the word about your work. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you!! My life has not been the easiest, and I've wondered why that is the case. My son was diagnosed (too late for me, at 57). Your advice and understanding that comes across on your channel have helped.
