Wish I could go back to the 2000s as well. Even though I was like a toddler back then.
10:26 - You wish that was 8 Gigabytes. That's 8 MEGAbytes! As someone who was a teenager/young adult in the 2000s, there's definitely two different periods of the decade. The first few years were dominated by the after effects of the 90s, Britpop, Cool Britannia before the rise of social media. It's important to note that having a mobile phone was not the norm, or having a cutting edge console like the PS2. Houses were still full of N64s and the original Playstation. Similarly, the iPod was a possession for the privileged few up until the end of the decade, so many of us were still using or Discmans and taking a massive book of CDs everywhere with us! On that, the reason the sound is crisper is because it's not compressed to hell like Spotify does for streaming. The back half of the 2000s was far different to the first few years. Facebook went public, the first apps on phones, it became cool to be alternative, being queer become more widely accepted in society and saw the end of calling someone 'gay' as an insult. 2008-10 was a much slicker, refined time compared to the earlier part of the decade. The early 2000s were...raw. As a final sombering thought, there's one aspect of the 2000s you will never be able to replicate. You will never know what it was like to watch 9/11 live.
It's strange looking at that era through the eyes of someone who wasn't around then - it all feels like yesterday to me! The Motorola RAZR was the phone to have. Great video, James. :)
James, James, James. Another stellar video! Loved it. In that time period I was married with children and could not afford most of the things you mentioned. When you pulled out the paper map, I thought I was going to die. My Lord how we fought those things but always had a stack of them in the glove box. I remember trying to drive around Chicago using a paper map. Now my Granddaughter will spend hours on her phone and game console with no interest of going outside. I think today I will take her outside and teach her how to drink from a garden hose. Those were the days. Thanks for the wonderful trip down memory lane and the video was outstanding. Keep up the good work.
As someone who loves the 2000 this is such a perfect video, you are truly the best YouTuber out here, love your vids
i just love this video so much. Brings up memories of watching video tributes which included very fuzzy clips. Also feels like watching youtube basically when youtube was founded
Absolutely obsessed with this era. Was so excited to see you posted this, and really loved the video! Thanks for sharing :)
This is honestly the BEST vlog you've ever made
This shit is so cool it would have been awesome to be a teen in the 2000’s!!! BTW I’m getting signed to John Casablancas!!! Your videos motivated me to audition!!!🔥🔥
I’m quite sad that I was born just as the best decade ever ended :(
in 20 years someone is gonna feel nostalgic about the 2020s and do a video like this so moral of the story don't feel sad about what has passed be glad that youu get to life now.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen this year! Thanks Bro
James, as a 37 year old who lived through my teenage years during the 00s, this video gave me all the nostalgia feels!!! While it was exactly the happiest times of my life, it reminded me of a time when there wasn't social media, and all the negatives that have come with it, and as you say the constant stream of notifications from app after app. Side note though the edit of this video was stellar, and props to you for I'm assuming getting the footage of that video camera tap! Keep up, as I'm sure you will, the great content.
This video is so aesthetically pleasing, gives me so much nostalgia
the vibes of this video are immaculate omg
You make nostalgia a whole nother level you make it come back and bring back so many memories and I respect that im also into that❤❤❤
Will also never let the win in mini golf go;)
Love this idea, and you've pulled it off so well. Keep going. This won't be my first time watching this😂
I think 70, 80's and 90's would be awesome. 70's and 80's tech might be a little out of reach though, i think 90's and 2000's are different enough to make a whole video on the 90's. btw great video James, one of my favourites
