@AcceptableAsGenerallyDecent

they also discovered 90000% more favorable results when the men were given guinness beer instead of competitors

@yuvalne

surprising result: the social species thrives on being social

@stormerkromy988

I mean, 2 nights out with friends doesn't need a scientific backing to make a good idea

@ciuwandy9238

“Anything else?”
“Yeah, 500 Cigarettes”

@V-DD-G

“Paid for by guiness beer” ah so that’s where the go out and drink beer part came from 😭 otherwise I think this is a pretty fair conclusion

@jackhughes8585

I believe it, but I also believe the same is true for women, and every other human on the planet.

@gary.420

Totally valid study with no conflict of interests whatsoever. 😂

@Dbd_walnut

Ah yes “combat depression” by DRINKING. Thank you Guiness, very cool!

@coffeecartoons5345

The only thing that tipped me off was it specified men and the particular activities. If said “Adults needed social interaction with 4 friends twice week” I’d’ve believed it, but since it said “Men to be around men to do sports, drinking and trash talking” I instantly got suspicious

@paintisfood

I see my homies maybe once every few months and it always feels like i start healing an injury i didn't know i had every time.

@booleah6357

To be fair hanging out with friends is probably a no brainer for good mental health.

@Rampy470

This just sounds like a broader human thing not just a male thing. Then again it might be harder to market a beer without appealing directly to men so.

@LilFeralGangrel

it turns out that as social animals, humans require enrichment from social activities with the people they care for. Unfortunately our society is structured in a way that maximizes isolation which is part of the current mental health crisis countless people (men included) are going through.

@julierk2281

Ah yes, the manliest of all activities: laughing

@NikkiBdraws

Hanging out with friends twice a week is probably good for everyone to try.

@uniquename6256

4 friends twice a week, all they do is just laugh maniacally

@Pusta10

Thanks for the excuse to get out of the house, just forget about the part that it was funded by Guinness and we're good

@AceAlbatros

Then Marlboro did a study right after saying it’s great mental health to have a smoke break in between drinks of Guinness beer with the boys.

@whytheflick

A four day work week standard would combat depression overall.

For the men who really do love outdoor sports, that requires different preparation than video games, social calls, or coffee breaks with friends, the which you can do in short bursts during the week—and which many women are already doing. In school you see boys take exercise as the choice break activity, which you lose facilities and peers to in the work lifestyle (besides having to scavenge your own food during the same hour). Making time outside of mass schooling with peers is hard even with better opportunities. Can't be surprised the cure to depression is acting like you're a social living entity.

@Indigoisaspookyghost

I think this goes for everyone, not just men. Socializing is good for your mental health. We’re a social species
