Kudos for this piece. Gala should be stunning and stimulating - the beauty of DEI. Sadly I'm 100% sure we'll see post Gala cultural chaos from objections to some fashion choices - likely "appropriation" or "insensitivity" - and then all the beauty will be forgotten.

Singer-songwriter Jidenna started retro-Dandyism over a decade ago, inspired by the growing trend of African Fashion Designers & Afro-Pop of the mid 2010s. It's been around, so Vogue & Anna Winters just gave an already African & Diaspora Cultural aesthetic a delayed mainstream spotlight. But we, the people of African descent, have never, nor shall we ever, need a major spotlight to be influential world over, just our Millennials old Cultural existences are constantly appropriated all day, every day.

yuh know what would have been even better... giving credit to a Black creator for doing this on their own and separate from that institution without seeking validation from them and highlighting it on our own by our own while supporting and giving respect to our own...
