After my triple bypass that basically ruined us , my wife and I became homeless and lived in a Walmart tent for almost a year and except for their cheap zippers , a tarp over top and we stayed warm and dry and believe it or not , till this day I still have every piece of gear we had from that humbling experience from 2015.
First off…some of these comments are the biggest reason I don’t start my own YouTube channel. Everyone is all of a sudden a video editing guru. I had zero problem watching this video. Didn’t notice what everyone is complaining about. To the ones quick to criticize…where is YOUR YouTube channel? I would love to see it. Secondly…the commenter saying not to support a Communist country…it’s a video about Walmart camping products. Relax. Not everything has to be a political statement. I personally love your videos guys! Keep ‘em coming!
You may never see this as this was 7 months ago, but I have to try to let you know you are my favorite YouTube for my van living excursion. I don’t backpack, but living in such a tiny space has made me rethink how to use it wisely. Downsizing to live in my van is so much simpler when compared to a backpack. You’re a joy to watch and so very informative! Thank you both for all you teach me!
Really enjoying your channel! Wife and I just got a tent and are going to camp on Kelleys Island this summer. Your videos are a huge help!
When I was homeless I had a Walmart tent I used it for sleep but that was it. I preferred a tarp or a single shelter. Mainly due to survival shelter. I did want to try the cook out thing but I couldn’t carry it around. Shoes were very expensive important. But the best was an axe and the knife. Along side the fire starter stick. Water filter. That was it. Great video good information.
LOL, wearing a Cabelas hat to buy camping gear at WalMart. I love it.
Most of the tents at WM have very questionable waterproofing. Buy 3-4 cans of the silicone spray that is generally near the tents. On the first setup (maybe in your back yard), soak the rainfly and any rain-bearing panels very thoroughly and it will give you a fighting chance. Repeat the treatment after drying if you have enough left. Make sure it dries very well before going inside. I've gone through this issue many times with new boy scouts and mention it because of the problems we have actually had keeping them dry.
I'm literally using the same $15 sleeping bag & $22 red & white cooler while car camping in the national forest right now!
Just FYI, if you have to really drive tent stakes into hard ground, theyre really difficult to pull back outta the ground. Dollar Tree has small crow bars that work like a charm in getting those stakes back!
I love this video! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Walmart is one of the absolute last must stops before hitting our site. Theres a reason why we literally drive right by two of them on our direct route to our favorite local camp spot BTW ❤❤❤ yalls channel...so glad i found yall
Excellent & outstanding video. This is like shopping before the shopping. 2023 looking great.
Great video! The intro had me thinking i was watching nearly 2000’s high school movie like “Big Fat Liar” 😂
Pool noodles are also good to make a nice cushion seat or pu on a 5 gallon bucket when being used as a outdoor toilet
Love the pool noodle hack!
I love our Coleman stove. It has lasted through 17 years of camping, several power outages and is good as new. Great point about the camping dish sets vs. picnicware in the kitchen section.
Tents from Walmart are 3 season versions at best. Not always the best quality regardless of the name on it. I found a large Coleman tent on clearance and have used twice. So far it's good. Sleeping bags, the ratings on them are ballpark. If your looking for something for 45 or so and above, sure. I prefer my 4 season military sleep system anytime over anything else. Tarps, definitely agree with them. The rest of the stuff, pay attention to what your buying and it's intended uses and for how long. As for the shovel, I highly suggest the true military version. They can be picked up at surplus stores for under 25 and will definitely outlast the cheap Walmart versions. The mountain house meals are very bland. Definitely recommend picking up a small spice, salt, pepper etc for adding flavor to them. Most everything I have bought from Walmart has held up. I always try to buy items that serve multiple purposes there as well. Although it's not possible with some things, plan ahead what will hold up ling term and buy those rather than some cheap good enough for now.
Thank you!! I feel ready to go on my first trip !
Great video! Some of the Ozark Trail stuff is a great value. I have a 54 quart roto cooler made in USA that has been awesome for 3 years and 1/3 price if a YETI
