Genioplasty : used to correct size , position and projection of chin Common chin defect could be in all three axis as in : Horizontal plane : antero-posterior direction of chin. The chin could be either protruded or retruded Vertical plane : lower face hight , it could be either vertical reduction genioplasty or vertical augmentation genioplasty Transverse plane : either asymmetry of chin or decreased or increased width of chin In all procedures after completion of osteotomy, the repositioning should be satbilised ( fixation ) either using uni-cortical bi-cortical wires , one plates , prebent plates or lag screws Complication : •Neuro-sensory changes •Chin ptosis •Resorption of bone : avascular necrosis Hemorrhage / partial airway obstruction
