I am from chinese descent, studied in France in the 80's where education and meritocracy still had a meaning, and spent most of my work life in western countries. I am now retired in China. Your analysis is such spot on! I wonder if the 'old west' will/can ever recover from this situation you describe.

Canada is ruined by the Liberals/NDP. We have immigrants who came to Canada with big dreams and ambitions only to face mountains of bureaucracies and mediocre work attitudes and ethics. We have massive unions fighting for worker's rights and benefits based on "fairness" and "victimhood". Worst, our education system has been "dumbed down" that immigrant parents constantly seeking after school programs and French/Catholic schools for their children to enforce discipline and hardworking attitudes. What's is wrong with the western world? Our government spends billions a year on "expensive consultants" only to tell our schools to dumb down education and standards so "no kids are left behind". It's a such a shame our politicians are ruining the country and our younger generations.

No one can measure another person success. Success is an individual goal and achievement and it can’t be measured by outside forces and perception. Sometimes the smartest person you might perceive to be in the room is not always the smartest person in the room at that time.
