If tightly monitored not that bad of an idea. They would be forced to enforce the actual law, and not some misguided understanding of it, also they wouldn't have the right to use deadly violence in most cases, as they can't use self-defence as a cover. In addition, any corruption would instantly go poof, as they wouldn't be tempted by bribes, and by design would record every single thing they see and do. But again, only if tightly monitored. The chance for software vulnerabilities and exploits has to be veeery low.

Lol. Maybe someday. Today, all of these robots are extremely vulnerable. Not only to they tip over on their own, a person or vehicle could easily defeat them. Too expensive to create too many only to have them destroyed in seconds. Demos are preplanned demonstrations. ON the path, but not there yet. We are working on it!
