use an arduino and feed the engine and prop rpm's into it, and have it display current REDRIVE RATIO, which should be 1.80, if it changes, its slipping, or, do what I did, order your drive with a toothed belt.

Do you think the b&s engine a viable option after all the testing? I'm interested in the legal eagle but intimidated by the half vw build because I don't have access to a mill or lathe.
