Just think how these 2 kids feel after John dies. They've already lost their mom, then their dad, and now their Uncle John. All 3 of their blood-related main caregivers.
I was an EMT, when we were taught about our PCR (patient care reports), we KNEW that these could be used in court and that WE could be held liable if we didn't document everything! That is a HUGE part of the story, if he left it out it didn't happen imo...
BIG question: if the police find a mortally wounded person on someone’s front lawn. The homeowner doesn’t come out with 1st responders in the front yard. Wouldn’t the 1st thing be to make sure everyone in the house is alive and OK???? (Before you know what we know now)
Hey, thanks so much for the kind shout-out!! 💙
ANY medical professional would tell you that it is drilled into your head: "If you don't document it, it didn't happen"
Here's the thing.....it doesn't MATTER whether you THINK she's innocent or she's guilty. The BOTTOM LINE IS ...to CONVICT HER it has to be BEYOND a REASONABLE doubt...and I cannot FATHOM how a rational thinking human being could look at the evidence on BOTH SIDES and not SAY there is NO WAY you could convict her BEYOND a REASONABLE DOUBT But for the record I absolutely think she's innocent. I think if you compare the evidence on both sides there is FAR more evidence that something fishy was going on that had nothing to do with Karen Reid.
“Who if anyone was driving the ambulance,” was the best.
Side note. Stephanie , I LOVE the lighting, makeup, hair, outfit or what ever situation we have going on here. You look amazing
I'm a nurse, and I can tell you that if it's not documented, then it did NOT happen. And it's crazy suspicious that NO ONE reported that she "confessed" until in court.
Proctor has been suspended without pay, pending a full panel. He's on his way out. He also was the lead investigator on the Ana Walshe/Brian Walshe case AND Sandra Birchmore. The same cell phone expert on the Read case missed 32,000 texts in the Birchmore case. There is now a federal investigation into MSP because of the misconduct in the department 😬
Derrick's show and tell is why I'm here!! My flabber was gasted during the detective's testimony about not recalling evidence protocol
Medical provider here (nurse practitioner). If you didn’t chart it, it didn’t happen. PERIOD! We hear that from our first class in school through all your continuing education through your whole career. If he didn’t chart it, he didn’t hear it unless he is COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT!
What it tells me is that she trusted him to go in and test the atmosphere, then he was supposed to come right out and get her BUT something happened inside, and then she thought that he just did not care and did not come back out to get her, so she assumed that he was inside partying. Unbeknownst to her he was in capacitated and was not able to come back out.
Hello, thank you for covering this….. I’m a nurse and believe me these injuries do not add up at all by being hit by a vehicle not in 1 million years free Karen Read ……… Kim🇬🇧
I’m a critical care nurse and the fact that they mentioned his abdomen was distended but chose to leave out the part where he may have been hit by a car is absurd. If the EMT’s had actually heard that, there’s no way they wouldn’t have documented it and told hospital staff because one of the main concerns for a car accident is liver lacerations that can lead to internal bleeding (causing the abdominal distention) which he should know. And the doctors or nurses would 100% have included that in the admission history and physical, even if it was just a possibility. We need accurate background information to guide the treatment plan or else they might’ve just thought he was drunk and passed out in the snow and missed something. At the very least the EMT is extremely negligent and should be reprimanded, and why those medical records weren’t pulled by the prosecution is beyond me. That should be one of the first pieces of evidence you introduce. I agree with Stephanie, the one and only reason they wouldn’t have included them was because it wasn’t stated anywhere that he had been hit by a car.
I was listening to the podcast version, but I had to come over here and leave a comment. Karen was without a doubt back at John O'Keefe's home by 12:36 AM, because she connected to his home Wi-Fi at that time
I'm guna be really honest here and tell you how worried and nervous I have been for this podcast to come out. Although I know how good you guys are at deep diving cases, but this one scared me. So far I am blown away and incredibly thankful for all the hard work your putting into this case. There is so much others leave out and it's bullshit. There is NO point in talking about a case unless you intend on talking about all of it. Thank you Crime Weekly. I have never been more invested in any case as I am in this one. I am firm in my belief that Karen Read was absolutey framed. Like willing to put my hands on it. Thank you both.
It makes me laugh when people moan about Stephanie being biased, she’s going to be, she knows the case inside out by the time they start recording! Plus, she’s bloody hilarious and it’s so entertaining watching Derrick trying so hard to be unbiased and going through the case with us! Great work as always guys, really can’t wait for the next part!
As an emergency department nurse from the UK, I can confirm we have the same motto - ‘if it’s not in the report it never happened’. That’s why our documentation is always at the forefront, especially when it comes to such important details and being informed by a paramedic or even a family member what could have caused a patient’s injury. Great episode guys, enjoying this series a lot x
