@Colin-kh6kp

The best part of this scene is Rama absolutely NOT wanting to fight a bunch of guys with machetes while unarmed and trying to run away first, it really humanizes him. He's a guy doing action hero stuff, not an action hero.

@TheRealGuywithoutaMustache

The Raid is one of the best movies to introduce someone who's just getting into the martial arts movie sphere.

@f03579

4:17 this combo is absolutely insane

@widi1624

The protagonist is not just doing "i'm the main character here" thing,who can just easily wipe them out for the plot, instead he brought the state of vulnerability and fear to build the intensity of thrill and fighting tense. Iko Uwais just the best actor for this movie. Well done.

@dmxdxl

The choreography, the camera work, the sound design, the lighting the editing I mean this movie does it all so well, absolute MASTERPIECE!!!!....

@hectorrosales9752

I love that he progressively gets more violent and aggressive towards the end of the fight. From seemingly not wanting to kill to having no choice. At least that’s from the eyes of someone who hasn’t seen this movie.

@morelenmir

I love how you can see the realization come into Rama's face when he knows the only way to continue living beyond this moment is to fight his way through a group of raving madmen with machetes. Uwais is so good at humanizing his characters, he is not an unstoppable god or at least he is but he doesn't want to be!

@dityaardananto1798

One thing that I always love about the raid movie is everybody fighting for their lifes. No easy fight for the good guy, no one talks during the fight, 100% focus in a fight, and no stupid jokes

@Varrick24

This particular moment at 2:30, where he gets flung back, he rolls, and gets up in just a second and kicks the other guy? The way the camera follows him and it pans up slightly... just brilliant. The flow and pace of the shot was just captured so flawlessly

@barrycruz5656

This scene shows just how much light body armor and tactical clothing made a difference. Several goons hit Body shots on Rama and one was able to slash him In the back. If not for that armor, Rama wouldn’t be alive right now. Plus he is wearing knee pads and steel toe tactical boots, which probably saves his knees and feet with all that rolling around he is doing on that hard surface.

@wanikentang4684

1:09 even the main actor feel the fear.

This is why the raid is perfect. Period.

@vansavestheday9968

Raid 1&2 is a masterpiece, the martial arts and action in these 2 movies is beyond anything I watched.

@sammysstopmotionoas1996

Can you imagine having to plan this whole thing out, choreograph it, practice the moves, then film this over and over again just to get those perfect takes? The people who made this are incredible artists

@chrisidore023

11 years from now, and this is still one of the best martial arts film of all time!

@sealdoggydog

2:44 is by far the most nuts and unexpected move I've ever seen in any fight choreography. Nothing else has ever come close for me compared to when I saw this for the very first time.

@gheorghenegreanu8409

Now this is how you make a real fight scene. No over the top moves, no slow motion, just brutal, savage and trying to stay alive struggle. Rama using his training skills to save his life, not being a hero, just a guy doing his job. Amazing movie. The second part was incredible also.

@mellowrose9470

4:16 that finishing combo is just insanely smooth

@teehee186

This is gotta be one of the best modern action films right ? Like when i saw this when it came out i thought "this is better than 99% of any western action movie for a fraction of the budget"

@Frazer2

I like how he's fighting more like a cornered animal than a stoic untouchable martial artist badass. Even opting to run from a pack of rusty machete wielding wolves. As one with actual survival instincts tend to do and not just slowly walk into the room then throw hands cause he's just that cool.

@dustincarl134

Iko Uwais is so underrated.... He deserves more attention just like Scott Adkins.
