This strike was launched in retaliation for Joe Biden in the last days of his Presidency granting Ukraine permission to use U.S manufactured long range Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and the weapon travelled at a speed of Mach 10, or 2.5-3km per second (10 times the speed of sound), with Putin adding that "there are currently no ways of counteracting this weapon". He said that a major military-industrial site in Dnipro, used to manufacture missiles and other armaments, had been hit. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously warned Western nations against such a move, saying it would represent the Nato military alliance's "direct participation" in the Ukraine war.
