The bottleneck in America's efforts to become self-reliant on rare earths is EXPERTISE and TALENTS, not reserves, (which are everywhere all over the world.) The majority of rare earth engineers, experts, scientists and specialists are in China, and their expertise levels are far above and beyond their American counterparts. The US really needs to "transfer" (i.e., STEAL) expertise and talents from China to catch up. Yet, ironically, the US has just recently deported a heavy rare earth expert (Liu Lijun) because she had participated in anti-Isreal/pro-Palestinian protests at UCLA... without first checking her credentials or area of expertise before deporting someone who could have been an asset to America's urgent strategic priority. So, the erratic US government and especially the Trump administration continues to shoot itself in the foot.

Agreed, the majority of RE wannabee investable opportunities are/will have emerged this decade, not the 2030s. Like any major new sector move, the wannabees come flying out of the stalls only to see their number slashed as the first few years of sector emergence occur (look at the number of EV wannabees that have come and gone already). Most of the investable prime movers in the US/ROW RE sector are already here or will have arrived well before the change of decade, IOHO. GLTA - REI
