Bitwarden all the way. Never seen a password manager that syncs this seamlessly.
I trust bitwarden more than Proton
Keepass is local, and you can not beat something you have full control of.
Switched to proton a few months ago, no major complaints, they have some minor things to work on with autofill but overall I like it.
🙂 i use bitwarden on all my windows desktops laptops and android smartphones, seems to sync just fine across everything i have, and for browser its works on my firefox brave opera. Is there a video like this that you cover a program to encrypt decrypt files cause that could be useful to have
I appreciate that you're always considerate of all pros and cons.
I'm extremely surprised to hear you didn't like 1password. If it's from a open vs closed source point of view, fair enough. But their usability & UI is second to none.
For Proton if you're extremely into secruity, you can set up 2 additional passwords to your first. Essentially a second password for your proton account followed by a second password for your pass app as well, which I really like. Additionally, the fact Proton HQ is based in Switzerland is an additional pro for your privacy.
What I didn't like about Proton Pass was that their icon in textboxes that indicates autofill was too chunky for my taste. The 1Password icon is leaner and doesn't stand out so much. And it felt like I had to fully commit to the Proton ecosystem to get the most out of Proton Pass, which I didn't want to do.

Best password manager video addressing issues that I need to think thru as a decide what manager to use. Ease of import / export, clients across platforms, open source, how does it sync, good options to look for, etc. great info summary! I feel like I can breathe again.
If Proton Pass clients are open source, would it be feasible to reimplement the server and point a modified client to your own hosted instance?
Keepass nothing else for me. I get full control over everything. Period😊
What is Proton Pass missing that prevents it from being starred on Techlore's reference page, unlike Keepass and BitWarden?
Proton added a feature to add an extra password to proton pass which means you need an extra password to get access to your passwords. How I see it is that basically makes it a different service if that makes sense.
I use both Proton Pass for my passwords and Bitwarden for TOTP, never liked the idea of all my eggs in one basket lol.
Hi Techlore! Great video! Just a quick question: If I want to switch from Keepass/Bitwarden to Proton Pass, do you happen to know if there is a way I can import my passwords to Proton Pass without manually adding them? Keepass is great, but the frustrations and "lack of" integration is becoming a bit of a pain point with me, and this video made me want to switch to Proton pass (in the near future, at least).
Did you make the switch yet?
I just started paying for Proton like 3 days ago. I love the email alias feature. I still like keypass though.
