THAT is a good brush-up to my English idiom knowledge. I knew of most of them, but as I do not speak English in my everyday,  most of them  have passed down to the passive , just understanding level.  A good story to learn from---like the others already have told you. Thanks.

a new friend of mine has his birthday on the following day and every one knew about it but the day before his birthday it was raining around 9'o clock in the evening, so I went to the nearest gift shop and bought him his first present a mug with tray on which king was written and next day my friend told every one about this, no one said a thing but I knew everyone was impressed 

day after his birthday I threw him a small surprise party with some friends at our usual spot
