Would you use windows if you didn't have to?

@Jim.Gregory

I would like to see a video on how you harden Windows. I think that would be really interesting.

@sunsfever83

I'm fortunate. I've used Windows since it came out. But I never used their ecosystem. When I switched to Linux, I literally didn't have to change anything I use. A small learning curve, but a seamless transition.

@CybersecPat

Fedora Linux is my second favorite OS - but what do you think is my top OS?

@DudenessBoy

Nice cat

I am a developer, so I have to use all three systems. I do love Linux way more, but I do have to use Windows and MacOS in VMs (sorry Apple)

@FarmerRiddick

Since I've been getting back into IT stuff last year and came upon this black hole called cyber security, I understand the need for anyone in that field to be as diverse as one can, when it comes to the OS's.
As for the average home user (like my mom or sister) Linux Mint is just fine for them - with my help, regardless if they were running Windows instead (- heavens forbid!).
Even though I've been running Linux for over a decade now, I do currently have two Dell Gen 7 boxes with Win 10 Pro, one Dell Gen 8 with Win 11 Pro (w/ Linux dual boot) and my Thinkpad with Win 11 Pro.

I do have others boxes as well for my home lab, that I haven't been able to find time to put together just yet.
I know nothing about Mac and it's just going to have to wait.

@elmariachi5133

Object Orientation is the antithesis to intuitivity. It's the single worst wrong direction IT has ever gone to. Just those who got it forced down their throats while studying think it made sense, because they are used to it, while it's the opposite of how a human brain is thinking. It makes the easiest things painful.

@BWGPEI

Microsoft and Windows have had an advantage for many years. The fact that most business use Windows of one version or another and that Windows has a huge market slice is a hill that may yet kill Linux on the desktop. Most new computers, or refurberished ones come with Windows, so what are we to do. Me, I try to set up dual-boot systems where Windows does not see the internet, while the Linux side does. I rather doubt that the server side of things will change much. Personally I rather like Windows 7, even if I dare not put it on the internet these days. Or a de-cluttered Windows 10 isn't bad under the above conditions. I will admit that my Wife tries to shut me up about Linux.

@ronm6585

Thank you. I would like to see a Windows hardening video.

@eherrmann01

Here's something you can't do in Windows: It seemed like your audio was lagging behind the video just a bit, so I opened pavucontrol, set the latency offset to -30.00 ms and Boom! all synced up.

@MarkHyde

I've resorted to giving over my personal laptop (an AMD APU based Lenovo laptop) to Fedora myself - but I dual boot on work stuff between Windows 11 and Alma Linux with VMs on Windows.

@petertech210

I really liked Fedora but kept crashing on my laptop so now I don't know which way. Windows user by the way.

@PokeBurnPlease

I really like Linux Mint but it cant run my games so i am stuck with windows.

@Hofer2304

How can shell scripts be tested? If I write a program in C it has to be syntactically correct, but how can I test if a shell script is syntactically correct?

@harveybc

No longer an IT professional. A couple of decades ago I worked as tier 3 help desk and network administrator. Windows user environment on a Novell network so had to know both systems. Now just use a computer for what I want. Over 99 percent of the time in Linux but boot into Win10 when I need to connect the Katana Sound Studio to my amp. (So finicky I can't even connect through a USB hub. Must be direct connect.) Linux definitely gets the nod.

What I find funny is most Windows users are scared to switch to Linux because they think it is to hard and complicated. That's the idea that was put in their head and it is really hard to convince them otherwise. As a result I can't even get my wife to give Linux a try, which is a pain since I am her support and frankly I'm not that well versed in Win 10. (And if she needs help on her Win 8 laptop it is almost time to talk about divorce. 🤣 Today it is 40 years. Only lasted that long because Win 8 isn't that old.!)

@kaossverige

win11 🤢🤮😷

@Paguo

Are you AI?

@eddieoconnor4466

Nah. I'll stick to Linux thank you very much. I have found various replacements for all the software Microsoft tries to thrust on you. Now?....my Dell XPS running Fedora Linux and having all the space, speed, and customization I could ever want?.....

makes Windows obsolete.

@Professional-i3x

1:35 in, windows does NOT have better "hardware" compatibility. Windows 11 won't even install without secure boot or tpm, for example.

on the other hand, linux runs on virtually everything, and where it doesn't you can always hack around it to get it somewhat working

@HOBBS-4

This guy is tainted, he is a Windows user!! and we thought you had some potential. And by the way at 6:33 of the video, that nose pick, then rubbing it between your fingers was very unprofessional. Have a nice life!!
