I saw a shuttle launch, just before The Disaster. The traffic to Kennedy was amazing at 4am. We had a great spot to watch, similar to this video. It launched, to us, in total silence and was a good way into the air before the sound hit us. What an almighty noise! Pinned your ears back. On a later visit we went into a shuttle. The cockpit is smaller than you'd think.
Best program I ever worked on. The good ole days. Nothing to date comes close.
The shuttle launches are the coolest.
I started working on the Space Shuttle program in 1979 as a college graduate until 1986. I then began working on the world's largest optical telescope in 1988. I may be able to answer questions if anyone has any.
God I miss the space shuttle.
I never tired of seeing a Shuttle launch.
My favorite part of the shuttle launch is the main engine start up. I still get chills
That sends chills up my spine awesome I live in Tarpon Springs Florida I watch the Kennedy space launch all the time from my balcony
Still incredible to watch today. !!
I went to an open house lecture at the University of Washington when I was 14 and the guy in line behind me was one of the astronauts who worked on repairing Hubble.
The rumble of those engines is epic
Story was the CHAMP of this mission
My father and I were there for that launched
❤ SO WONDERFUL
She is a beauty
I saw a shuttle launch in '93 whilst in Florida on my honeymoon - awesome. Wranglerstar says the shuttle program was a hoax!
I'm glad I was able to see one take off before they retired
Utterly awesome - I love astronomy - the shuttle program was a major success - space is hard
Proud to have lived through this era. When government was good at something
