I see why it worked on numbers below 20, you have to cross multiply by 1 to get the 2+4 part. But if it's a number other than 1, say, let's solve 23 × 27. 2×2=4, 3×2=6, 2×7=14, 6+14=20, 3×7=21 4 20 +21 621 Now, try the trick yourself and see what I mean.
