I'm a bricklayer and if that was his first time he did a great job it definitely helps to watch a few videos before you try something you haven't done before I know I do
I admire your balls putting a video like this on you tube! I’m a professional trades person specifically plastering and dry walling and this is as tidy a job than so called ‘professionals’ keep cracking on, take no notice of negative comments and always have a go man, it’s the only way you’ll learn 👊🏻👊🏻
Love this video
If my wife had taken a small fraction of the interest in what I had to do to fix the house we would probably still be married. I should have seen the clue.
should have put ties on the ends, even if just screws plugged in.
How cute and soothing is her voice ❤
Hack the plaster off the reveal and use wall starter kit each side. That wall isnt tied in qnd could easily be pulled over
Did you put the insulation in after? Couldn't see it going in
They’re thermalight blocks so if you use them again they can be cut to different shapes and better lines with a normal handsaw
Why did you pull a bit of wall out to put it back in??
Being a builder for the last 35yrs. I’ve seen some shit. Looks good mate. Respect.
What's a professional DIYer?
I blocked up an internal door for 1st time last year too. I had to use wall ties (single skin) where as you could tie into the brick wall behind and its only a few courses. I think it would take a freak occurance for someone heavy enough to fall badly just right on it to crack the sides. But... on the off chance it's being bothering you you could make some retro fit ties with small strips of say 10x3mm flat bar drill holes in and fit straight onto to the "front faces" of the new blocks and the old internal wall with beefy plugs and screws and plaster over! Nont: wall starter kits say you got to bolt into the middle of blocks and bricks as opposed to how cavity ties work.. Bet it's warmer and better for sound resistance too now.
Excellent effort for first go 👍👍 well done mate 😊
Better than most new builds :D
How refreshing to hear a great full woman or is that just me. She sounds soo proud off his efforts.
Great work

Fyi if you guys do anything like that again and certainly if it’s a bigger project buy a pack of wall starts, in the uk here you get a pack of 3 as standard from PGR or similar and you drill and plug them into the existing wall your laying up to. Easy as hell to use and will really help with stopping movement and ultimately cracking once your all plastered and decorated 👍🏻
