Man changed the way an entire generation looked at the guitar and how it could sound and be played. And the world of rock and roll was never the same since. RIP to one the GOATS. Legendary as legendary gets.
I have seen Eddie's solo 7 times live, and countless times on video, and it still gives me goose bumps. The King !!!
Don't mistake the cocky swagger and LA bar scene origins. This is the creme de la creme of rock and roll, and if you're a listener of full albums, they're definitely art rock as well. RIP to the GOAT.
This actually started as a warm up exercise before they did their gigs at clubs, backyard school parties. While Van Halen was recording their debut album (1978) they decided to record this solo just in one take. From 1978-2015 Eddie would either add parts to it or take parts away.Never played it the same way.He experimented with different sounds he could get from it.He even built that guitar himself with various guitar parts
Ah the man the myth the legend. Eddie was such a talented guitar player. I’m so glad I grew up listening to music like this 😍🙂
RIP Eddie Van Halen. He was a master of masters.
Edward Van Halen changed the entire rock guitar scene and turned it on it's ear with the original version of Eruption. It was a 1:42 guitar master piece and was less then 2:00 minute solo. He continued to change guitar playing until his death. R.I.P... His son Wolfgang will continue on from here.
I love the straight-up honest reaction. Not every listener is going to love every track they ever hear or every performance they ever see. It's refreshing to hear someone's honesty that "hey, this was cool, but just not for me." I'd rather hear that than be pandered by some phony over-the-top reaction. Keep it real Polo!
Just wanted to say since i've followed you the other day I've been binging your videos and really enjoying them a lot. You as a person is what sticks out to me, not just how chill and down to earth you are but also your open mindedness and intelligence. You got a good way of thinking and your view on things. Keep up the good work man!
Polo bro, you didn't move for the first 6 minutes. That's how you know your in the presence of greatness.
This is what happens when Dad doesn't come in to your room and say, "Knock it off, you're gonna break that thing." Thank you Mr. Van Halen. Thank you very much.
Eddie wasn't just a guitarist, he was a whole symphony!!! RIP my guitar hero!!!
My first ever concert at the age of 19 was Van Halen (1991) - I got to see this live from the 23rd row (though it wasn't this extended version)! One of the all-time greatest, obviously.
This is the first time I've seen you react. Eddie played so well because he had a gift. He also never realized it was work. It was just fun. He worked very hard.
He was marvelous! So sad he is gone...my favorite 80s band!
Eddie was a kind, polite, giving person and we loved him and we miss him. I remember getting Van Halen's first album and listening to this and Hot for Teacher. RIP Eddie.
At 7:40 he begins cathedral one of the best pieces of music ever done by Van Halen
This shows your honesty in your reviews. You don’t react just to pander to your audience. I grew up with Van Halen so I recognize the mashup of several solos from different songs. I’d be interested in you reaction just to eruption. Keep it up! Love your reactions and love you my brother. Thanks!
Saw them live, twice…did not disappoint!! This guy was next level, no question. Yes, lots of bands came out of the LA bars, these guys went from clubs to stadiums in the blink of an eye. ❤️🎥❤️great reaction.
