@nascompares

IMPORTANT UPDATE The MS-A2 does NOT support ECC Memory! I know I said it does in this video, but sadly it was an error born of me asking about ECC and being given an answer about the N5 Pro (this product here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxVGDrhU6d0 ), and not the A2 - this error was not spotted during the video prep by them or me! Regardless, the fault is mine for not doing the CPU prep whilst on the stand, but I was snowed by the CES show (not a good excuse, but it's all I got buds). Sorry again for the error and I look forward to seeing more from Minisforum in 2025.

@PantheraTK

This is a successor to the MS-A1. It sounds like we will see also an MS-02 at some point

@glmchn

Someone said "Nas" ? More like a BANGER Proxmox cluster node ! Feels like my endgame node for a while.
- Node 1 AI VM/containers workloads : GC in pci-e; 128GB RAM; 2*m.2 raid0 for fast af local project storage; huge slower disk in the third slot for systems; the 2 SFP+ bounded for cluster stuff (migrations, backup, ceph extra monitor ...); Gbe2.5 for client side access.
- Node 2&3 clones systems - actual H-A hypervisors : 25Gbps NIC in pci-e slot for bulk storage target on TrueNAS; 4 or 6 * m.2 as OSDs of ceph cluster for VMs storage. 10Gb SFPs for Ceph and cluster stuff. 2.5Gb for client lan access.
Insane setup. Actually insane.

@nadtz

Still don't understand why they didn't do this for the A1. This is exactly what I wanted, might grab a couple of these to add to the homelab.

@mistakek

This is what I've been waiting for. This is going to be a killer homelab machine.

@tttomtxhc

Unfortunate there is no USB4 but I would still take this over the MS01

@tiwopli

I would like to have an MS-A2 now, I already have an MS-01, but for some projects, such as LLMs, the MS-01 is just too slow xD

@O4KAST

Unraid 7 just released btw

@seethruhead7119

for me the ms-01 cheaper model still reigns supreme
i use these for proxmox cluster

if i wanted a workstation i would use something like a Formd T1 with non mobile hardware

@solarhomelab

So this is what we all thought the MS-A1 was going to be almost identical to the MS-01, now we can discuss. No USB 4 but instead you get USB-C gen 2 10gps and ECC memory and more cores (12 more cores). Proxmox server anyone? As a NAS I don't think this is great and while you could add the upgrade card to the system to make more drives I think its not ideal and would waste this system. If this is cheaper than the MS-01 then we might have a winner. Lets see how long it takes until it comes out?

@frankwarmsley3204

Can't wait for you to try the SFP+ to Ethernet adapters on this.

@huggekarlsson

This with a QM2 card would be golden

@JasonsLabVideos

I want a pair of these for a HA server setup !

@peteradshead2383

I just couldn't workout what Minisform was doing with the MS-A1 , they had a popular product which on the way to be converted to a Ryzen CPU cut out all the parts which made the MS-01 popular . They cut out the full size PCI-e slot and the SFP+ ports and just replaced them with a hodge·podge of NVME slots .
where does it say no USB4s ? , I can see the 2 USB C port like on the MS-01 .. OK ... looked again at the video which says USB 3C - gen 2x2

@Tobascus

At 0:53 you said, that it supports ECC Memory. But the MS-A1 didn't support it. And LTT also said for the MS-A2 that it does not support it...are you sure that it supports it? Because then it would be perfect for me :)

@ewenchan1239

This is the successor to the MS-A1, not the MS-01.

It might not have the 40 Gbps USB4 that the MS-01 has, but it's still going to be a killer system. CAN'T WAIT!

@JoshuaStrobl

Typo in title ( missing r in Minisforum).

@MrVagyok

I would love to know on the A2:
Is Bifurcation (x16 to x4+x4+x4+x4) enabled in BIOS for x16 slot?

@FouDeFafa

Someone's been sleeping at the Minisforum booth 😂

@javim1000xr

finally can use all the cores for esxi
