My uncle told me once that when I die I'll open my eyes and be sitting around a camp fire in the forest somewhere with some of my good buddies and my dog. I'll be holding a bong and my friends will ask "so how was your trip?" He then said "would you have something worthy to tell?" Fucked me all up haha.

Something to think about while exploring this topic: No matter what, all of this is real, in some sense. If we one day realize that our universe is simulated, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist, we were just mistaken about its nature. Consider this: You wake up out of a coma, and the first thing you notice is a pain in your leg. Only after you open your eyes do you realize you don't have a leg - it got chopped off while you were comatose, and now there's only a smooth stump. But you still feel the pain. The pain is real, it's just that its nature is different than expected. In other words, if I were presented proof that my life is simulated, the revelation would have next to no impact on my life. It would be like playing a video game - though it isn't physical, the feelings and emotions I experience are just as real.
