Whats wild is i got a dog that had a long list of requirments and issues. We take him home, none of them are true. They were saying he was constantly anxious, didnt like staying outside, had very little energy, resource gaurded, food aggressive, cage/barrier aggressive... he was actually the chillest dog ever. I almost wonder if he was all of those things cause they had him locked ip in a glass cubical with the sound of screaming dogs surrounding him at all times.. hmmmm...

@hmg84

I'm crying laughing right now, the name pissfingers is the funniest fucking thing i've read all year.

@cavi5514

Rescues make you jump through hoops. My local shelter just wants you to have a pulse and $125.

@Guacontoast716

The adoption fee is 350 dollars, pissfingers is not fixed and needs all vaccines

@jjohnsengraciesmom

The extinct fruits part always gets me.

But yes, they are stressed.

@kev2020

Those people mean well but many are idiots or ignorant. I was a vet student and tried to explain why they were having various issues and they decided that years of doing things incorrectly were better than a few years of clinical experience. I adopted the dog that had been suffering the most and stopped volunteering after reporting them.

NOOOOOO!!! πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I hope Pissfingers finds that wealthy couple and ranch style life. I’d like to join Pissfingers after that adoption. πŸ˜‚β™₯️β™₯️

Went to adopt. Was told they had to do a home inspection(WTF). But kids really wanted the dog so ok. Give directions to my ranch, lady drives up my 1/2 mile long driveway. She gets out of her vehicle and proceeds to inform me that the puppy was going to grow in to a large dog(St Bernard, duh). Then asks if it will have enough room to exercise.

@judithlinderhof2804

This is absolutely true (in the Netherlands). We adopted two cats. Both did come with a very long list of "needs". And maybe they once did need those things, but if you give them your love, they see and feel that and that will make them less anxious.

One of my cats could absolutely not be placed in a house with kids the people at the shelter said. That is 5 years ago. We got a baby this year and she is his greatest protector. She is always near him, looking out for him and sometimes (like baby's do) he kicks her, when she is laying next to him. She never did anything back or even hiss at him. She is a good cat.❀ I love my little family.πŸ₯°

@eloylie

I was not allowed to adopt because I was too young (22) and so I got the next best thing, cat from someone on ebay giving them away. That's basically what a shelter is doing without the shelter being the middle man

@jjohnsengraciesmom

I volunteer in a shelter amd this is spot on! I love it!

@TwinkleToes-mm4kb

Adopt and shop responsibly. Buy from reputable breeders.

Orchard of extinct fruits sent me😭🀣

A few years ago, our old family dog died of old age, after some time, mom wanted a new dog. We went to a shelter and found a dog, went on some try outs (some difficulties with training, but mom was already used to dogs like this - so no problem). Then they asked about how long the dog would be alone. My mother said the first 6 weeks while school was out never, then around 4 hours on a weekday (she needed to leave around 11am, the first of us (my sister13 or me16) would be home by 3pm)
That was too much time alone (the dog had no known problems of being alone and there wasn't anyone at the shelter during the night).

In the end our new dog came from a hobby breeder (every 2 to 3 years with 2 females).

Really 4 hours with walled in garden and a house, after getting slowly used to it. I don't think they really wanted dogs to get adopted.

Fr. I wanted to rehome a horse and they didnt have any that were the right size except a young one that needed training. I said thats fine, i can handle that, then they turned round and said "you can only rehome a horse that needs training if you have prior experience to training horses, and proof that you trained that horse. But you cannot have any other horses that are currently in training living at the same place as the horse your wanting to rehome. You also cannot rehome this horse unless it is to be kept on private land and can only be kept in a herd of horses that you own and each horse must have an acre each. And you must have an areana to train in".

So you want me to have proof that i can train but not have other horses in training currently with me unless i pay for them to board somewhere else. You want me to have a field and stables in my backyard (which almost no one here does). You want me to own a herd of horses meaning at least 2 others so i would need 3 acres of land minimum, but these 2 horses cannot be in training. And i need an arena which is a luxury that majority of equestrians in this country cannot afford unless its on a shared yard which isnt allowed since its not your own private land.

What i have. No other horses i own. No arena. And no huge amounts of private land.

What i could of provided the horse though - a 7 acre field and a 2 acre field on a friends yard, a horse companion that is my friends pony that i re-trained for them, who is kept on the same yard. A private woods for hacking/trekking (that my friend with the yard owned). Hay that my friend cuts ever year themselves. A warm stable. And bags of love.

But i didnt meet the (ridiculous) requirements.

And this was similar at all the horse rescues within about 3 hours of me, regardless of the age or experience of the horse.

So i bought a horse instead. Turns out the horse i bought had had a rough time of it to so ig things work themselves out.

Im all for adopting and do so when i can but i agree that i lot of the requirements are silly.πŸ™„

@paigeeeeeeful

We adopted our 2 cats for £60 each, and they're literally the best! They suited out personalities perfectly ❀

@ShenandoahKemmerer-ej5ct

The perfect cat❀😊

@MarsmallowCreme

"Please take this poor dog home 😒 hes about to be put down!! Hes such a good dog"

5 days later

"So a lady applied for the dog and I denied her because shes obese and hes a husky I know she lives in a place connected right to a dog park and wants to bring him to run and play every day but thats not good enough honestly"

I love shelter staff who care about their animals 😊 i do not believe that husky got adopted in the end.

@sarahlouisehooper7792

I got told once that because I'm 36 I wouldn't be able to cater to an "active dogs needs" my staff and and Patterdale terrier don't seem to have the energy to complain after their 25 mile hikes twice a day πŸ™„

@pcmdenault5391
