One thing I've learned is that most important in choosing the best programming language is the ecosystem. i.e. Python and JS aren't popular because they are faster or more productive, but for their vast 3rd party developments. I wish you had focused on the community of these languages more.

i'm very happy to see lua mentioned here, and i do believe it's a underrated language that could be used for more stuff, as a mobile dev working currently with react native, i started to create a way (aka Framework) to use lua for mobile dev powered by rust, and i'm very happy how this is going, the language is pretty simple and tables are very flexible to work with

Nice video, but Lua isn't inspired by Python, maybe by Scheme? Yea, but not Python, since Python was VERY new and "small" (it was 2yrs old when Lua born, but u have to remember that lua didn't just born, it was projected, maybe together with python) so yea, Lua isn't inspired by Python. obs: sorry if i said something weird, i'm not very gud in English, since i'm brazilian and i prefer to study Russian than English xD

Lua was my gateway into this whole programming life. All because of the LOVE 2D framework. I first got certified in Python just because I had job pursuits in mind (yes I realize how foolish I was for that) but out of respect for Lua I went back and got some certs in that as well. Just because, I loved that language. JavaScript would follow on. Now I'm really curious about FORTRAN.
