I think a GUI is a reference to anything the user can interact with graphically. An applet runs in a webpage always. So yes for the most part.

@xXCrypticalCodexX I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain that applets are used in HTML coding (To make websites), and GUI is used to make other, non-web-browser programs.
