@SavvySavant

I can't believe that they are actually doing it. Great work Google. It's EXACTLY what Android needs as they shift Android to Desktop class. Spot on...

@mvz

You are the ONLY channel talking about desktop mode! THANK YOU!! The desktop mode plus the Linux Terminal in my opinion is the biggest leap forward for the new Android release.

@ibc_tarii

Samsung basically running android from the back at this point most of Google's biggest android things have either been implemented based off of One UI or developed together between Google and Samsung.

@adanbrown

Microsoft/Apple, beware! Google's move to have an OS that adapts to all devices is a strong one—a version of PWA that could actually win. If you can't bring the apps to the OS, get the OS to the apps (it's really bringing both together).

@RobertDunn310

This is exciting. I like Dex mode on my Samsung phone a lot, but you can't help but notice how the apps still feel like "kids' versions" of their full-fledged desktop counterparts (like MS Office, Edge, Photoshop).

Hopefully this can bring us something more "desktop-grade" for when we decide to use our pocket computers as actual PCs. It can also make Android a serious competitor to Windows/macOS (though that may take years).

@Randomness662

I really feel like if Google fleshes out a universal desktop mode well enough, there will be no reason to have "Windows on ARM". If there are already going to be translation layers to get x86 apps to work on ARM, then they may as well be brought to Android so any Android device can become a true mobile computer.

@TwoTubesADV

Considering all the power your have on the phone in your pocket it's crazy that it had taken this long for it to be a thing. This will be awesome 👌

@thebozzIDW

It’s bananas that it took so long for this to become a reality, one of the things that was super appealing to me back about a decade if not more ago when canonical was pushing to create like a all-in-one device that could be used as a desktop computer when plugged into a monitor with a keyboard and mouse.

I’m gonna hold off on purchasing anything before android 16 is actually released, but this is probably the closest I’ve ever come to wanting to completely switch from the iPhone to android.

@lowkeygaming4716

5:18 I wonder if they paid Samsung for them to share their Dex feature because that's a key feature of Samsung flagship that they're sharing to basically all their competitors.

@PeriviYohanesburgo

Finally, Desktop Mode will be a reality soon! ❤

@scott53128

Your content is spot on at the moment, cracking video after cracking video. And as for Google, about time! They should have done this long ago, but, finally we will see apps that play nicely. Folding phones, tablets and Chromebook sales could be on the way up!

@denverdigiman

I'm excited for the desktop mode! ... And thanks for pointing out the Gmail slider trick... Very useful! I recently switched from an iPhone 16 Pro Max to the Pixel 9 Fold and am loving it ... And you're content related to it. Thanks!

@bradavon

Would've nice to get this a decade ago. Phone apps aren't good on tablets, phone apps aren't good on foldables.

@nickthaskater

Orientation-dependent apps were always stupid to support. That said, scaling had better not be tied to aspect ratio rather than general viewport size, otherwise, not much will have changed.

Also, re: desktop mode, Google really needs to lead the way by porting a native version of Android Studio to Android. It's always been hilarious that you need another OS to use Android Studio.

Nice to see the collaboration with Samsung re: DeX, considering how many people have attempted to call out Samsung over the years for not feeding back to the baseline desktop mode. Now, just let me run the desktop mode on the inner display of my foldable, please!

@Dwayne3007

This confirms that Google isn't done with Tablets....yet.

@roymonrreal9608

The fact that they still dont allow you to remove icon labels depresses me

@javiersierra1833

That’s what I love your videos. I’m always learning something new.

@ChrisTonge

Strange but they've actually removed the desktop windowing functionality from the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 on the Pixel Tablet.

@thomasraukamp

Thank you so much for keeping an eye on that!

@bman68au

Very cool, but Microsoft really were ahead of the game 10 years ago with Continuum. What a shame they gave up on Windows Mobile.
