you mentioned how they didn't spot Simo in the actual war. He actually utilized quite interesting tactics. Firstly, he didn't use a scope because it would reflect lighy. Secondly, he covered the muzzle of his gun with snow so it would muffle the sound. Third, he would put snow into his mouth to cover his breath in the cold. Eventually leading the Soviet Union to designating artillery squads to specifically targets directions from where his bullets came from.
Also a few things ommited from his injury, the bullet that actually hit Häyhä was an explosive round, as well as the was actually thought to be dead for a few days while at the hospital until someone saw his toes moving.
