Playing through Inscryption blind and in the dark is a treat everyone should try

@Mzoyagon

14:55 I like the juxtaposition of the scrybes, personally. Leshy as life, Grimora as death, P03 as the scientific, and Magnificus as the fantastical. Intentional or not, I think it's a really cool detail.

@elijahpark5344

I’ve made this comment before on a different video on Inscryption, but my favorite part of Inscryption actually is behind the theming behind the scrybes, beyond just the obvious ones.

The scrybes can be described in terms of game design.

Leshy is the story and the atmosphere. He’s the most fleshed out of the scrybes and gets the most time, because to an indie developer, he’s the most important for the player and the most memorable. Without the story the game is bare and empty, so he’s there to fill the gaps with his words and storytelling.

P03 is the gameplay and balance. He’s the second most important, because he’s what makes a game “fun”, hence his focus on the technical. That’s why he get’s the second most focus, being a game developer’s second priority after launch.

Grimora is the save states and internal code. She’s the one who preserves the save file, which is also why she’s the first to let it go, because there is just as much value in ending a life as there is in starting a new one (also note how she’s a “bug” in leshy’s game. Maybe a hint to the game state being “bugged”?)

Magnificus is creativity, and the unfinished. He’s the culmination of every new idea that comes to being, but is never certain how they finish. This is why he fears the future yet is able to see it, and also why he’s the only one whose game never comes to fruition, his world empty in the last act.

As sad as I am we didn’t get multiple games on Inscryption or every Scrybe’s “world”, the game is beautifully designed as it is now :D

@Bobotato

I literally just beat Inscryption yesterday for the first time and checked if there was a ThatGuyGlen video on it and now this appears today. What a coincidence.

@epathshala4668

While I was playing Tunic , he released a video on that , and now that I am playing Inscryption , he releases a video on that . This is just scary

@jamesmoore2232

God, I wish I lived in the timeline in which he spent the extra two years developing another 2 3D sections for the remaining two characters…

@ThatGuyGlen

Special shoutout to the game's creator, Daniel Mullins, for providing the concept art and early gameplay footage featured in the video!

@FlameRat_YehLon

My favorite aspect of Daniel Mullin's games is that they are games about games, and gaming culture as a whole. As long as that's not going away, I do hope getting surprised by his next game.

@kairo2937

When I saw the title all I could hear was "Sacrifices must be made"

@blobofdespair

I loved the atmosphere of Leshy's cabin so much that the rest of the acts were not as appealing to me. All art styles were amazing, but act 1 is truly special. Great sound design too. I need to play this again. ❤

@thegothaunt

I've definitely mentioned this before but the way your video style visually changes for each game is astounding. Your skills are clearly getting more and more professional too -- so exciting to think what you'll do in the future!

Also, thank you for these! I feel like people can so easily complain and yell about game devs because they're this imaginary force-- and aside from teaching us awesome game history, I feel that you really humanise the people behind the games we cherish and give people faces and names to be thankful to.

@erikm8373

Sometimes I almost feel like it would've been more thematic if PO3's Inscryption was the rouguelike, and Leshy's was the open world adventure. Leshy handcrafts this big world, full of unique characters and encounters, while Po3 relies on random generation. He doesn't trust the player to actually be good enough to win with their own skill, so he designs a game where all you need is one lucky run to finally get to the end. Obviously a few other aspects of the game would have to be redesigned and shifted around, but I think it's an interesting idea.

@CherryThGreat

I would have loved if choosing who you’d replace in act 2 actually took control in act 3 that way there’s a reason to replay the game again and again

@martijnklaassen3536

I still want a Grimora mode.
I loved making a bone deck in act 2 and the chess maze is such a fun idea

@jimtwothesecond

Inscryption's one of my favorite games! It was super cool seeing how you adapted its visual styles into your documentary; I thought it fit perfectly. I'd love to see a documentary from you on Outer Wilds!

@MrEHD-fj1bz

this game made me (grown ass man) cry at the ending .
it's one of the best games I have played

@Elraboh

is incredible how everything slowly started to join and click just to create one of the best card games

@TheOrian34

I played The Hex after Inscryption (like many I'd assume, if any), and it makes me a bit sad that with how incredible Inscryption is, many people won't bother looking at the older brother.

@reyzmalkovich1158

Part with live action and how he found curse game give me vibe of old creepy pastas, and I like it. All lore great implemented in game.
