Totally agree; I’m totally perplexed as to what Labour actually stands for currently. In addition to the points you have mentioned there is now the cuts in disability benefits.
Remember we could have had Corbyn. A man that fought for working people for 45 years and has the voting record to prove it
Virtue signaling our lack of virtues.
Well considered Rory, thank you
Doesn't look like it...shame
This is one of many reasons why I’ve left the Labour Party. But mainly due to their lack of criticism or action on the atrocities in Gaza and The West Bank. I’m disappointed and disgusted that those who need help the most are being ignored, at home and abroad. I’m now politically homeless. I had so much hope.
It seems to be a general problem in many European countries: Social democrats and moderate left politicians appear to have resorted to be the least horrible choice for voters. That's certainly not enough by any standards. No wonder people feel let down and become ready to accept an even worse choice. Is it possible that the way democracies are designed and built in the West they're inevitably bound to turn into a race to the bottom? Is it caused by a flaw in the concept of democracy or is it a side-effect of a capitalistic market economy?
No there isn't, absolute joke of a party Labour in name only. Their policy approach feels no different to the Tories, unsurprisingly the change slogan was just hot air and nothing more.
There first budget was more tax and more spending...
We need a new party
clement atlee said in 1960 his hope for the future was full production and employment. What does it matter they were just the party of wasting britain away on benefits
Been the case since Big Al was kicking around maybe he could elaborate. Its a sad thing to say that Rory constantly and consistently impresses while his partner from a political perspective doesn't, though i do enjoy listening to them both.
Unfortunately social justice isn’t very fashionable these days. I wonder why that is
To have a sound democracy we need more parties and ideas!
It was never a socialist party. Sure, it always had socialists in it, but socialist party; no.
I literally couldn’t agree more, I’ve voted for labour without question my entire adult life and now I’m left wondering what this party has become. Social justice was always the thing I thought we stood for at our core. I always felt that Tory’s believe you should care for your family alone but labour understood humanity to be a shared family. Now no more 😢
It is time for a reset on capitalism in the UK. The current situation has reached a point where the younger generation can no longer afford to purchase a house or rent without facing a lifetime of debt. Additionally, the younger generation are unable save any money for emergencies. The retail outlets operate without any form of regulation. Advertising as become a joke; some advertisements are outright lies and completely dishonest. again no regulation. Not forgetting the OAP population the pension is now become a sad joke .. capitalism only work's with regulation
Rory would make a better Labour leader than Starmer!
Another Chamberlain moment
