When my husband told his primary care doctor that he practices intermittent fasting, he said that “it is not a good idea to do it at your age”. I suppose it is because he is not going to be able to prescribe tons of medications that are expected for someone of that age (65). 😂
For those going to their doctors to order a blood test, you have to specifically ask what you wanna check . Usually blood tests are pretty basic. I usually ask for him to add Vitamin D, Testosterone, free testosterone, estrogen. Next time I do it I'll likely ask to do SHGB as well, so I can cross reference with my LDL/HDL.
The fact that our office employs an individual whose sole purpose is to “appeal” insurance denials for referrals, testing, imaging, meds, etc. tells you everything you need to know about our “healthcare” system. I spend more time writing letters of medical necessity for things that I order than I do reading up to date medical literature for my continuing education
Costs me $3 to add fasting insulin to my clients labs! THREE DOLLARS
The other conversation that needs to be had more often is that we are responsible for our own health care. Just because insurance doesn’t cover it, doesn’t mean it’s not accessible. I’m a middle aged self employed carpenter. My first ever health insurance was Obama care. It cost me and my family $1500.00 a month and it covered nothing I needed or worked for my health issues. So I had to pay out of pocket for all of my healthcare on top of that outrageous bill. When I’m talking with customers, and healthcare comes up, I suggest cash pay functional medicine docs, they say they can’t afford it, in a new home, with new cars and all the other things they will afford, but play the victim card on healthcare.
HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM HAS TO BE IMPERATIVE for HHS
We Muslims have the month of Ramadan now and we fast until sunset, we do not eat or drink, it is a great blessing as we gain reward and health, and there are some of us who fast on Mondays and Thursdays of the year but it is not obligatory while fasting Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam. Thank you dr.
I just order my own blood tests because Medicare won't cover it and my assigned doctor is a SAD quack.
Just when Dr. salodino is about to make a much anticipated great point about fasted insulin and how to take care of it this guy interrupts with his personal stories and anecdotes. More than 3/4 of this video was listening to this guy talk about “I used to be 25% body fat” or “I owned a lab”…..brutal. 11min of video only to learn that fasted insulin of 14 is still high and buddy’s life story.
Open an online clinic Paul! Questioniare and blood draw from quest labs. I would love a doctor who wants to help solve the issues.
Tried Carnivore, then switched to doing an Animal Based diet because I want to put work in the gym, and my sleep quailty has been improving drastically. To the point that some days I don't need as much sleep, I just naturally wake up early and feel ready to go like WAYYYY before my alarm, it's kind of amazing
Excellent and thanks for sharing today. Sharing your video immediately so others will know
Health care in the US is insurance care. There's nothing related to health.
I tell my doctors all the time: “order the test! I’ll pay for it!”, it’s just a scam for them not to do the test when they say insurance will not pay for it. Most of the time they end up getting it paided for BUT YOU CANT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER.
Wish you would have talked more about this and do a separate video.
Outlaw corn syrup and seed oils and most problems would go away.
Fasting insulin at Quest costs $29. Yes, my doctor orders it.
