In my opinion the Blitz was the coolest and most advanced aircraft of the war.
I know what this plane was as soon as I saw the cockpit it's a The "Blitz" aircraft from World War II Germany was the Arado Ar 234, a jet-powered bomber often referred to as the "Blitz" (meaning lightning in German) due to its high speed and ability to quickly strike targets; it was considered the world's first operational jet bomber. Key points about the Arado Ar 234 Blitz: Design: Manufactured by Arado Flugzeugwerke, it was designed as a fast reconnaissance aircraft but later adapted into a bomber. Features: Twin jet engines, high speed, and the ability to quickly deliver bombs. Impact: Although deployed late in the war, the Ar 234 surprised Allied forces with its speed and agility, making it difficult to intercept.
The 4 engine AR 234 version looks even cooler. Just think, the 4 engine B58 flew just 11 years later.
Ce modèle est le seul avion à être passé sur les plages du débarquement pour faire des photos Le 7 juin 1944 a très haute altitude
Outside of the engines were rocket assist to help with the takeoff. The fabric package is a parachute as after reaching a specific altitude they were released and reused.
Blitz and Meth great combo !
That is something. I have ancestors on both sides. Crazy world. Great aircraft. Thanks for posting.
I really like the clear part but imagine being like 18,000 feet in the air and looking down!
I think its so ironic that I was looking on Ancestry yesterday and one of my Opa's uncles was at the Battle Of The Bulge fighting for the Nazis, and I looked on my Oma's side and her Uncle was fighting there for the US. Then i looked at what companies they were in and actually got shooting at each other. This world has weird ways
Wow they were so advanced
Is that why my Passat doesn't run?
This one also has the Rockets used for takeoff, otherwise known as RATO rockets
That one is equipped with RATO, The pods on either side of the engines. Rocket Assist Take Off
Notice rocket pods on the ends to give it a faster climb rate when taking offf
America brought as many arado blitz jet bombers as they could home to test.... unfortunately, about a dozen were then crushed and buried in an Air Force base near a culvert. About 40 years ago, someone remembered, and there was talk of a recovery effort, but i never heard anything more ...i think it was an east coast base,if anybody is interested
Even today they don't know how Arado made the plastic glas so round and perfect.
there is a Horten flying wing in the collection as well.
You just reminded me of the song "The Ballroom Blitz". Lol 😂
Looks good, but let down by the jumo engines often flaming out, and poor design as the pilot did not have a rear view, hence the periscope above the cockpit.
