Appreciate your honest review. Would be a more interesting product if it was more advanced in their software and core capabilities. The plug in connection for ps controllers does look iffy (like an experimental test board and floating in the air) doesn't look like it will hold 2 controllers plugged in without breaking pins sometime in the future.
These retro consoles, even FPGA retro consoles, are so common now, I think the only way to set themselves apart is with built-in CRT emulation and black frame insertion.
This looks like a pretty interesting little device. I'll have to keep an eye on its progress. The website shows more cores such as gameboy and gbc plus others in development.
SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII , por fin en ESPAΓOL....Muchas Gracias πππ
Thanks for the review. My red reset button on top does not work. When I push it just goes to TangCore without the menu options. I have to pull the power and plug it back in to get the menu options. Also do not use the micro Sd card reader at the back. I accidentally put the card in there first and it got stuck until I could fish it out with tweezers. I love the tiny little unit. Yes it definitely needs a 3d case to hold the SNES controller board to keep it from getting damaged. Maybe even a dock that hold the Tang and the card to keep them together. Finally the front cover over the large pin connector will not go back in and stay once you remove it. I had to tape it back. All the best to the dev team! Keep going! Update: I have the April 08 Firmware which included about a dozen homebrew games. Unfortunately quite a few them don't seem to be working! I hope the team is committed this hardware needs a lot of work!! UPDATE: Seems the culprit might be the cheap KIOXIA Sd card. Investigating further
Nice. How did you findbthe NES core? As i know thats your true love.
the file name reminds me of Pootie Tang movie name.
The design of the box itself looks pretty cool and like that its small and the carry case is really nice as well π Cool that is comes with the pins for the ps2 and ps1 controllers The screen selection does look bland but its pretty straight forward which i guess is the point what is this sonic you speak of hahaha Shame that street fighter 2 did not load up. Seems like a neat little console nice share mate π
nice, I remember reading on it a couple of months back. have you tried mother 3 on gbatang? the attack timings on that game is way off in emulators even with runahead
02:18 the controller board looks very flimsy, don't know I'd trust it plugging in wired controllers... It's a cable yank away from total disgrace. π
Wow that thing is tiny!!! Does the GBA core not play GB/GBC games as well?
at 8:29 you claimed the SNES core wasn't advanced enough but I believe you'll find that core is actually not super enough, and it was the GBA core which was not advanced enough.
It looks nice, although we can buy a QMTECH mister fpga complete for 146 pounds, so β¦
I wouldn't assume it normally comes with the carrying case
umm excuse me, where is GENESISTang core?
Def not for me. As soon as I saw the size I lost my interest. Reminds me of the NES or Genesis Mini consoles. Still waiting for that perfect FPGA console that does NES through Dreamcast, and every single thing between, in a nice boxy 'console-size'.
Isnβt that a microsd slot on the back? Using a dongle for the sd card looks really bad. Also that ps1 dongle is horrifying.
Is audio emulated? Your footage seems to be muted...
does sound work?
