As one of those old school engineers that saw the birth and eventual death of cassettes, floppy discs, CDs, and DVDs, I am damn glad and damn happy to see you young engineers out there doing things we only dreamed of doing when we were your age. You are our future.
"CDs... an elegant weapon, from a more civilized age."
That's like some "I come in peace" kind of alien weaponry from the past/future. Really cool.
This week I officially feel old.... - A guy (I assume in his 20's) called me "pops"... - A YouTuber had to explain what CD's were....
this is the kind of weapon the "Nerd" character brings to help in the big school wide fight against the monster.
I get mad at the algorithm when these sorts of videos arenβt the first thing in my feed seconds after being uploaded
What I love in your channel is the engineering. You don't have a multicolor super fast 3D printer, or a plasma cutter in your backyard, but you are doing real engineering, and that's the best part!
When I was younger, I found out that the many AOL CD's would fit on the end of my rc motor. The gear was just the right size, so I pushed the CD on, spun it up to 10,000's of RPM's and used my finger to flick it off. It would hit the ground and either explode, or take off like a rocket. They used to blow up sometimes and leave shrapnel marks on my arms. Good times.
The quality of this video is 10/10. Great project. Great engineering. Great videography. Great music.
Children of the future will be shown this device and told it was used in the great media format wars of the 90's. π Awesome video and build!
Too cool! π a little bit of ceramic or carbide grit bonded to the edge of the discs should help you get through that glass, just keep it minimal and only on the edges. 80 to 100 grit should suffice. π A tri-point "Predator" laser site would be a cool addition. π
Production value 100% Ingenuity and execution 1000%
Been waiting 30 years to see this. Son, you made an old man Proud today.
Remember the early 90s movie" I Come in Peace". With Dolf as the Cop. Hell yes sir. Good stuff.
That's cool, man! I remember when CDs were the S****! I had a cassette player in my truck as a teenager. To get that Pioneer CD changer with the passthrough EQ was GOD MODE!
"Brain Stew" for the montage music was perfect. I'm ancient enough to remember when that song came out.
you actually did it, made the CD thrower, wanted to make something like 20ish years ago, just never had the skill for it. now you gotta find a wide open field and do trick shots.
BORN THIS CENTURY?? ARCHAIC!?! ANCIENT CIVILIZATION!?!?!? PREHISTORIC!?! fuck.
Why the hell has YouTube withheld this great channel from me for so long? I subscribed within the first two minutes of the video.
