Yes, it's a reality. I have faced similar challenges during my interview process. However, each interview has been a learning experience, helping me refine my responses and become more precise and confident with my answers.
Last time I switched it was 2021. Interviews were easy going. And the interviewers had patience. Cut to 2025 , when me an Data Engineer with 6+yrs experience is having a real hard time cracking Product Company interviews like Microsoft, Databricks . Although I felt like I know noting Jon Snow. π. Nowadays it's like a skill match + use case match. Basically Data Engineer should be a Ninja + Samurai + know Karalipattu as well.
meanwhile other influencers : buy this DSA course to get 5 -> 50 LPA in 1 month .
Ohh..this is so truee !
Though I am just learning Data Engineering , I still enjoyed the video Please create more of such content , really liked the video
I want 2021 era π’
This is damn so aligned with whatβs actually happening in 2025!! I am facing this situation almost everyday in the most of my interviews scheduled.
You are versatile !! :). Enjoyed this funny take as much as your informative Data Engg videos.! As regards the job market : looking at all the skills listed in a typical JD these days, I wonder if they are looking for a data engineer or an entire IT department.
Epic video πππ Bring back 2021!!
The acting is really goodπ₯ and the background BGM is quite scary. Oh man, the 2025 Data Engineer interviews are terrifying!ππ

I have been working for an American fintech firm since 2019. My tech stacks are almost within traditional ETL tools from microsoft such as t-sql, SSIS, SSRS,... etc. However when I'm trying to switch my career aboard in 2025, I was like WOW! almost all data engineer/ETL developer positions are hoping you candidates to perform as super stars! Besides traditional ETL things, they need hands-on cloud operation experience, big data related experience. I guess microsoft tools can work well in many places before 2020? Several years passed, the world has been changed! I'm not sure if my observation is correct or not. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much.
Damn the video so on point, i apply to almost 50-60 jobs a day for a data engineer with 2yrs of exp role, and 10-15 of them respond, out of that 5 land on interviews on avg and after all of that I have been ghosted by 15 different companies including some MNC's even after cracking the interviews and demolishing the technical coding rounds. π
Superb πβπ»
