@judemiller

How can you NOT cry when she says "Papa"? God, I break every time.

@jodydunning3078

I'm a 47 year old man and this clip always brings instant tears...

@victoriaprovost3022

"I'll say anything you want" my eyes are leaking

@KeezyDaGamer

I love how instantly he stopped and turned around after he heard her......

@faheemzafar2550

This scene always bring tears to me, despite how many times I watch. Fathers love to his children is unlimited.

@nancysorto4769

I'm not even a parent, just an auntie, but this scene makes me tear up every time 😢.

@mariakal605

Phenomenal acting by her, her crying seemed so legitimate

@johnstjohn3595

As a father to a little girl myself this scene gets me....

@crookedarmdaun4given

I just found out this actress passed on July 19, 2014. The fact that I never knew this talented girl personally doesn't take away from the sadness I feel. Her performance in this scene is so moving. One of the few scenes in film that chokes me up in tears every time I see it, and as silly as it may sound, when an actor or actress is able to make you react emotionally, they really do claim a small piece of your heart. When someone touches your soul in that way there is always some sense of loss when they pass. Thank you Skye, Bless you.....

@renekackline2377

I not only cry when she says, "Papa"..... it's Mel reaction that gets to me the way he responds to her. Loved it!

@davidquinones1199

I can watch this movie a million times and it is this scene right here that gets me choked up every time... so so sad

@Lady-Kanerasoka

I’m willing to bet anything that this had to be the audition scene for the child actress playing Susan because this was really her most memorable moment in the entire film. This scene makes me cry EVERY TIME! It’s NOT EASY finding a very young child actor who can make you cry instantly just by acting like that. Skye McCole Bartusiak was a genius. May she rest in peace (2014 at age 21 from accidental drug overdose according to IMDB)

@1996jacksparrow

Don't cry...don't cry... ah damn it.

@TheRcboy73

As a dad with a daughter this scene always getsme. When he is looking at her, he stays strong and calm for her. He makes her feel like its going to be ok even though she is scared. But when he hugs her, his face is full of heartache that he has to go.

Such a great scene.

@cicadax5886

This scene tore right through my heart 😭

@bildo1977

Knowing that the actress that played Susan is dead makes it even more tragic.

@colinm8200

Women cry at the Titanic, but that scene makes grown men cry. Imagine the hundreds and thousands of men who rode off and they DIDN'T come back. Damn i need a tissue.

@Snowman79

RIP Skye and Heath :(

To me, this touching moment between Benjamin and Susan is nothing short than cinematic gold!!!

@ellenmurphy3100

16 years later, and this part still makes me cry.

@Troy_nov1965

This scene would make a glass eye cry.
