Yes, but he had also another warlike side. The guy had jumped 5 ranks in about a hundred years, even surpassing Akaza who had been a demon longer than he had. Even without formal combat experience, you could tell he had a combat IQ. He clearly found pleasure in fighting, and perhaps even satisfaction, despite his seemingly devoid of such traits.
