Beautiful display of nature doing her thing.

@Freshadventures_

Those lightning scars are crazy looking. That tree exploding was crazy too.

@CrazyBear65

My Grandma had ball lightning come thru the wall, float across the room into the tv, and blow it up. Whenever there was a storm, she went thru the house unplugging everything. She always told us not to talk on the phone during a lightning storm, because the lightning could come down the wire from the pole. She was really paranoid about it.

@babalonkie

Just incase you have never come close...

Lightning once struck a house next to mine whilst i stood outside (Contact was less than 5 meters) during a storm... Not only do you go temporary deaf... you can get hit by residual electricity as it branches out just before and just after striking point. I literately was shocked physically and mentally, i could feel the electricity in my legs and apparently was standing there for about 20-30 seconds after (Felt like hours) before my brain and body kicked back in, i took shelter and processed what just happened. You could also feel the impact, heat and vibrations... it's literately a strike... like something large was just shot at you at great speeds.

@feeberizer

My mom's uncle was struck by lightning and it messed up his digestive tract. He came to visit one time and had a blender with him to puree all his food.

I wasn't aware that being close enough to hear thunder also meant being close enough to be hit by lightning. Scary.

@IncredibleMomentsZone

I once had a close encounter with lightning, and the feeling is indescribable. It was a mix of fear and wonder. These lightning strikes bring back that intense memory. Absolutely incredible!!!

There's been some good thunderstorms in Colorado when i was a kid. Once, while standing at an interview with my friends, we saw lightning strike some 500 feet from us. It was so close and bright i could feel heat of the lightning on my face. We took off and ran

@jacksonk.2733

Lightning be like fuck this one tree in particular 😹😹😹😹

@vaderbaby

Don't know just how rare it is for trees to get hit with lightning & end up on fire internally, but it has happened to several trees on our property in East Tennessee.

@JamesShelnutt2

living on a river I was front row to some crazy storms. Two years ago lightning took down two of our tall pine trees in two separate storms. The first was hit and was blown into three equal length pieces which landed one atop the other and leaving a 20 foot stump. The second split the trunk about 10 feet above the ground and the top of the tree fell over still barely attached to the trunk. at least neither the trees or lightning hit the house.

Who else here loves lightning?

I am a Florida native born in the Tampa Bay area, as well as a long-time resident of Dallas TX some time back. Having experienced mega-thunderstorms in both states, I would still grant Florida the lightning title. There's a big difference (for me) between lightning in the two states because it always appeared to me that multiple strikes in Florida seemed to come physically closer together than in Texas, as well as more strikes per minute. A friend visited me in Florida for my college graduation who was a Texas native. He was more than a little nervous as we drove down one of Tallahassee's many tree-lined streets where the trees meet in a canopy over the road, while an approaching thunderstorm rumbled up ahead. He said "ya'll got too many trees in this damn state and they're too close together." I can understand it from his perspective, but I still had to swallow a huge belly laugh at the time. Besides, Florida rarely has monster tornadoes, so I guess it evens out. πŸ™„πŸ€ βš‘
