@notme232

The SponsorBlock creator also makes DeArrow - crowd source new video titles and thumbnails (a screenshot from the actual vid) to clear out clickbait from your feed.
Title like "YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW THIS HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!" becomes "Review of product XYZ".
Yes, it's a band-aid solution, but it helps.

@syloui

adblocks destroyed the most common malware attack vector in the early 2010s, I will always have it's back

@TheSpeep

As a general rule, if I see a product advertised on youtube, be it through an ad or a sponsorship, its an automatic distrust of that product.

Creators gotta pay their bills, ofc, so as long as its not too eggregious, I dont blame them for doing it.
But if that product is actually worth my time, I'll hear about it somewhere else first.

@raketensven3127

Ads are harassment.
AdBlocks are your restraining order.

@crestofhonor2349

Another nice thing about adblocker is how much faster sites load when you have slower internet or slower hardware. It shows you how much crap is trying to be loaded in. It also makes sites so much cleaner to look at

@ZenWithKen

I stopped watching television because of the ads. I stopped watching Amazon Prime because of the ads. I quit all social media. I almost stopped watching YT, but found an adblocker that worked well. A guy can only use so many cars and tampons after all.

@ThechronocrosserII

You know what sucks Louis? I work IT for the media college at a university. I get to see how they teach students how to slowly manipulate people into watching ads and how to better target ads to certain people. It's pretty disgusting honestly.

@BradBordessa

Great as always. Here's my $.25 for the past number of years. Never change, Louis!

@kingvamppp

Never browse the internet raw fr

@OG_Mereles

And when they say they want 'to target the person who is most likely to buy their product' they DO NOT mean those who will find it the most useful. They mean, those who are most VULNERABLE towards manipulative and exploitative business practices.

I love it when a creator I watch looks straight at my face and tells me how much they love Raycons

@137vuk

Thanks for respecting our time

@size_t

Another good reason to block ads, comes from S. Herman & N. Chomsky, in their book "Manufacturing Consent". Where they talk about the "Propaganda model of communication" (also quoted on Wikipedia):

"The advertising license to do business: Since the majority of the revenue of major media outlets derives from advertising (not from sales or subscriptions), advertisers have acquired a "de facto licensing authority".[11] Media outlets are not commercially viable without the support of advertisers. News media must therefore cater to the political prejudices and economic desires of their advertisers. This has weakened the working class press, for example, and also helps explain the attrition in the number of newspapers."

@carterbeaver4437

Louis trying to tell us he doesn't make clickbait thumbnails yet when I click on a video a cute cat instead I get a middle age man yelling about how he can't get his warranty paid out for is vacuum 😂

@zex992001

Here is my dollar and I'm not from America. This is my first time rewarding. Thanks for valuing your viewers and not seeing them as numbers.

@haydensimpson02

I watched a video recently on how youtube sponsor spots built in to youtube videos manipulate the psychology of viewers that have parasocial relationships with content creators. When viewers with their unwarrented extreme trust see those creators repeatedly advertise products, their trust for that product is inherited from the trust they have for the content creator. Really crazy stuff.

@adamgrabowski6995

Thank you for saying the truth out loud. Big respect for still posting your videos on Odysee, despite YouTube breaking the sync.

@emersonarmstrong89

You're a rolemodel for so many viewers, and I love your delivery. Please keep educating the masses and reinforming your fans. Thank you so much!

@DavidShepheard

Remember folks. If you want to help Louis, and you don't want to send him a quarter, you can do one edit on his Consumer Action Taskforce wiki instead.
