Fun fact: In Spain we also have something very similar. Milk is aromatized with lemon, cinnamon and you could add other spices and then thickened with flour or cornstarch. Once cooled, its chopped into blocks, coated in egg and flour and deep fried. It is common to sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar afterwards as well.
