@RAFSQNLDR

You were in my old stomping grounds. As a youngster I had my first GA aircraft flight at Southend and lived in Southend til I joined Uni and the RAF. I am now a Commercial Multi Single IFR pilot with a gyroplane for fun. Now living in Texas. More film of S’fend and Canvey next time please. Blue Skies!

@musoseven8218

Fantastic scenery and another great grass strip. Brought back some fond, happy memoriesπŸ‘πŸ˜Š In the 1980s there was no Skydemon etc, so what you've done was the norm, and, in amongst, 6-7 active military airfields and MATZ things could get interesting. Some of it became routine, sometimes it was quite hard work for dad. I tried not to be too idle in the right seat though at the very least I kept a look out πŸ˜„πŸ˜‰

That wind sock!πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Thanks for taking the time to film, record, edit and share, much appreciated πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘βœŒοΈ

@FlyingDarkLord

Good to hear the calls necessary for approach in controlled airspace. LOVE the wind sock 06:50
Really helpful video πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸΌ

@petersatchwell1910

Great Terry - love it! Those Garmin warnings would send me round the bend......

@JodelFlyer

A treat Terry. Two videos in one week (or did I miss one?) I always find Southend controllers very helpful and accommodating. Must admit it is the first time I have heard the conspicuity on the ground call! πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

@SimonPageVideo

Again. Great video - good tempo, loads of camera angles - real RT and hi-vis trousers to match. Thank you πŸ™‚

@salcombebunker1800

Best yet Terry really enjoyed this episode, great history, amazing place. Chris.

@stealhty1

Great flying Captain Terry, its hard to stay focus with so much scenery

@kevchilton908

Great clear footage, Terry, and a really interesting little strip to take on, well done! You’re carving out a nice unique niche that a lot of pilots will find interesting, and will also be of interest to everyone because of your excellent visual and audio content. Keep them comingπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

@flyingmissionary

Great video @ShortField! This is proper backcountry stuff.

@davebuggins2198

Another great video Terry, thank you. What I enjoyed about going into Barlinge was flying over the mud flats low level, plus the airfield has some interesting war history. What I never done was route south through the danger area, great idea, next time.

@ThomasGrillo

Thanks for the video. Beautiful flight! :)

@peterdisley5327

Another clear and concise video. Great to have the full RT which is invaluable for learning. Thanks for sharing Terry

@robinmorton6837

Was this flight on 18th May? I was transiting Southend and heard β€œsquawk conspicuity on the ground” and thought to myself, β€œI’ve never heard that before”. Brilliant bit of flying though, I’ll keep my eye out for the strip if I’m ever routing that way!

@redferret1948

The owner of the airstrip at Barling is 90 and still flys

@porkorosso7885

Terry at 1:14 in the video, is that a private airstrip too? πŸ‘πŸ»

@flyingkub

It is fun flying to these fields but often they have asked me not to post video.

@roycarpenter6380

Would you not think it advisable to do a low pass over the strip before landing where there is no ground communication ? Check for animals, rough/soggy areas, birds etc.

@theflyingadventures

Great video and nice strip to fly to. Southend is quite friendly I have to admit. By the way what software do you use yo edit your videos? They are stunning!

@InducedBank

Another great vid, and great to hear the ATC interaction too, very helpful as always. My only question is, when you were leaving the airfield, did you call them before taking off, or was the first call the one we heard? I'm just keen to learn! I'd have though radioing from ground would be best since once in the air it's potentially a short time to get to speak to them, especially if the frequency is busy?
