When you crouch on the Hacker Pads, it unlocks the Original Hard Version of the Hacking which Tony Garcia wanted to include but he was forced to lower the Difficulty. They talk about that in Useless Podcast Ratchet & Clank 3 Part 13

So Ratchet actually goes inside of the Hacker terminal and you basically enter into some kind of first person mode to prevent the player from seeing the character model
