Would be fun to do some racing in this
great video
Haha ๐ thatโs cool
Correct me if I'm missing something but isn't there something fundamentally flawed with connecting turn direction with your head turns? Think about it. How many times in a game is your movement direction and gaze coordinated? I would argue that this would actually tire your neck out. Using the keyboard analogy you are assigning your mouse and keyboard inputs to your head. While I get that this would cut down on nausea I can't imagine this being pleasant for long gaming sessions. I see they have a custom solution for racing. At that point, other than haptics, why do you need the chair at all? You're not going to use your head to turn in racing. You have a wheel. I say all of this as a veteran both of using VR, VR Racing, Sim Racing and entertainment technology. I would have liked ot have seen a cast of what the reviewer was actually seeing in headset. I keep imagining something like a really frenetic zombie game where in order to look behind you quickly, you need to keep whipping your head around. Maybe I'm missing something but that's pretty much a non-starter for me and it really doesn't seem to be solving anything. Interesting to have it for a racing rig maybe but again, why? Other than haptics. You don't need the chair spinning unless it is going to somehow translate that into the feeling of banking/turning. Good motion base simulation can pull off amazing brain hacks and make you feel like you're moving in a certain way even though the motion base is not replacating that exact motion in real life so maybe there's an element of that. But since the chair is really only rotating and vibrating I kind of doubt it. Interesting. I am skeptical. Need to connect with a buddy who actually tried it in person and ask him what kind of game he tried on it. Devil is in the details.
Too bad the only good sim games are in a plane or motorcycle or in beta and grid legends took 10 million years to give us 120hz and a graphics adjuster to make it playable without puking
Haha
