Rakhimzhan Qoshqarbaev (Kazakh) was the "first" soldier to raise the Soviet Flag at the Reichstag building in Berlin on 30th April, 1945 at midnight. However it was shot down by German snipers. After it on May 2, 1945 Meliton Kantaria (Georgian) and Mikhail Yegorov (Russian), raised the Soviet flag over the Reichstag again in the recreational iconic photo taken by Yevgeny Khaldei (Ukrainian).
