@andrewtcoder

My father left our family when I was 5 years old and he decided to continue his life with another woman. He just forgot about me for the next 5-7 years but he was living about 500 meters near my house. It was really hard for me to figure out how to be a real good man and how to behave as a man because I had no one who could tell or show me that... The only good thing is that my father taught me a lesson because he showed me the behavior that I must eliminate from mine. He showed me the version of a person that I shouldn't ever become...

“Pursue making how you feel align with reality as opposed to letting reality be aligned to how you feel.”
Extremely powerful words and a great lesson to everyone.

@Wyrevolverowany

Ending is clearly an emotional roller coaster.
Also best tip about productivity: if you feel unproductive check on 3 simple things:
- physical activity
- eating
- sleep
If you lack any of those it gets a lot harder to gain motivation

@robertstefanic4001

I love your videos. This one really hit home. Thanks for the advice and virtual support.

@JP_Ferrei

dude, dont stop making these kind of videos, they r super helperful

@bataunder6161

Dude, this hit me harder than I thought it would...
Your "I cant let how I feel dictate what I should be doing" is my new motivational mantra.
Thank you.

@krombopuloslincler4849

Thank you for sharing this.
I had quit 3 jobs thinking I'm not enough and it was not normal to feel that way.

@jeffrey5602

I can totally relate to the last point. My Dad died when I was 10. He was a geek by heart and I just wish I could share all the stuff with him as I am progressing on my journey. He taught me how computers work, chess and we used to play age of empires together.
In university I spent too much time running around aimlessly, partying, drinking, smoking weed and playing way too many online games. My mum always cut me some slack, but at some point I decided to do a complete restart. After 2 years of procrastinating on my bachelor thesis I managed to finish it, switched major to computer science in my masters (prev. industrial engineering) with only a very limited grasp of javascript. Then fell in love with machine learning and became a data scientist. It was a lot of hard work and struggle especially using most of my free time on ML/DL online courses, but would do it again in a heartbeat. I appreciate every day at work where I can work on core ML/DL projects. Theres so much more to learn every day and so many progress happening.

Thx for keeping it real all the time Prime <3

@ryuk5709

I really really appreciate your "hot takes", they're resourceful and inspiring actually, and more of a wise man's advice than a hot take in my opinion.

@louis-philippeturmel1479

Thank you for these videos Prime, the general developer community is extremely luck to have you as a role model. Keep it up dude!

@victorcomposes

4:57 was too close to home for me; I, too, had no one telling me these things earlier, and it is difficult, but that is what strengthens you.

@RhettTrom1

I needed to watch this video this morning. Thanks you for putting yourself out there and being vulnerable.

@peaske

I love these. A virtual mentor.

@baseballMMAgames

As a longtime psychotherapist (turning into a software dev), I can't tell you how many young college students would come to therapy and want to "find their motivation" again. This rings so true. It was such a shock to the system to have to do stuff that wasn't on the top of their list of things to do when there were so many other fun things to do. I love it. I always said, "Motivation is not something that you find and keep. It's something that keeps you doing things. When you start something hard, you have to realize it's gonna feel uncomfortable and difficult. Fight the feeling to do nothing!!!

@luke.m

I relate 100%. Going through a moment in life where I’m forced to reflect back over a decade: accomplishments, motivation, and lack thereof.
Thanks for putting your thoughts and feelings out there in these videos. They come at a very timely moment for me…

@andrewentwistle8133

Exposing that much of yourself to others in order to help them is one of the greatest gifts you can give. Thank you :)

@PhillipDressen

Love the advice series: keep it up! Focused on software for over 20 years, and these are some of the least communicated, hardest to learn topics...

I came for the vim, I stay for the friendship!

@RicardoNahuelGuzmanPastrana

@rodrigopoblete8112

You are motivation for many. Thanks for sharing that. You have no idea of the impact of what you do on people's lives.

@reda-w4g

I grew up without a dad too, and this shit still hits home at 28 years old still trying to get a career in tech and do so many things that simply go against my entire background. I would like to deeply thank you for this series since I actually watch this more than your techie stuff (promise will watch it once I'm done with basics of C++ and DSA). I never realize how much I need this before actually setting down and watching it since I simply don't understand my own feelings.
