@LoLolol-h5n

Dont forget .
Industrial revolution -> docile machine are better revolting slaves.
Bourgeoisie and capitalism -> i'll own you as an employee instead of a slave.

@laurentlambert6347

Also, when the British were not in charge of their newly independent American colonies, which were structurally dependent on slave trade, the British decided to harm them by banning slave trade while the Cast system in the Indian colony was still preserved, hypocritically.

@spro957

Such a wonderful discussion and how articulately presented...wow 💯👌🏽

@samb3783

Look up the slave compensation, the UK government borrowed money (paid off in full finally in 2004?) to compensate the slave owners, some of who's family members sit in UK parliament today, the slaves got nothing.

@thissitescertifiedhousecat8107

Who would have thought systemic violence has price tag. Who wants to be the person to discover that keeping organized military operaions running to constantly oppress people would actually be expensive. Some please send this to every single gov official in USA, this the reason why they meed so much money to run their military.

@rhysleah8657

Not the late 1800s, 1833

@philippa5400

There was significant Muslim (Arab, Turkish, African) slave trade before and overlapping with Western slave trade. So it is not surprising indeed that the idea of abolition would come to an African Muslim, all the more so if they happened to be living under French colonial rule in Senegal

@thegreyarea-WPP

This very much ignores every other nation and gets wrong the idea that Britain was the biggest slave running nation. In Brazil alone there were 4 million slaves. That’s 35.3% of all slaves from the Atlantic slave trade. Now, there comes the far bigger issue which is constantly ignored. Instead of acknowledging the mass slavery around the world for thousands of years, people want apologies from everyone alive today, yet they don’t point out that there are more people enslaved today than at any point in history. We cannot right the wrongs of the past, but we can spend more time and effort trying to rid today’s world of it. That’s where our focus should be.

@kittling5427

Haiti abolished slavery during its revolution at least 30 years before the UK ...

@elisecruz827

I love you Butch Ware❤ Aotearoa NZ

@MrAnperm

The USA was late to abolish slavery and still has major race issues today.

@captainphilips5469

The industrial revolution also helped.

@MohamedEusoff-jw8mm

Thank you for the knowledge

@Sunny-fx1

It would be amazing to have Butch Ware as Govenour of California,- a brilliant scholar of colonialism and empire!

@K-balance28

Assimilation never happened.
Still partialism, Crown Holder of England with loyal knights, bishops advisors.
Nothing new. No surprise. Nothing has changed

@elisecruz827

Butch Ware for President❤

@t.c.w.5088

How much did he get wrong is more than either is willing to admit.

@6thhistory

Okay I think 'largest and most brutal slave trade in Human history' is a bit much. I think that goes to the Romans actually.

@leoa.g.333

Young man, go and study the irish conquest and the first slaves in america; then go and study cecil rhodes and the boer war, then you go and study the indenture servants created by the indian company.
